He should definitely become the Titan mentor.
Maybe not vanguard commander per se, as he gave up that title himself, but he could be someone who teaches Titans the true way to be a Titan.
And his first lesson would be dismantling the One Eyed Mask

I think they are setting him up to be the new Titan Vanguard Zavala questioning his own leadership,Ikora saying the vanguard is broken,Variks judging that Zevala is not a strong leader etc He may have given up the title before,but he will be asked to retake the role because of current circumstances -
I think the solution I came up with is something I like most, we have the Vanguard but also an “old guard” (name to be decided.) The Vanguard are the ones who think the city is the only salvation and they must protect it (Zavala, Ikora) in need of a hunter since Cayde’s death. The “old vanguard” are those lightbearers who know we must fight the fight in the field in the hooe to get rid of the darkness. (Osiris, Saint and possibly Cayde if revived or another hunter.)
