Many people would like that feature but it's simply not a priority as it doesn't affect anything in gameplay, it's just a customisation feature that's easily diminished if you always have a helmet on like me, barring cutscenes of course.

Then maybe add a “No helmet in Combat zones” feature too. Like Zavala, Cayde and Ikora.

Omg I’ve wanted that for such a long time! There is a plethora of other games that allow this option, and I’d love to see it in Destiny!

The only reason they even added the option to wear a helmet in social spaces was because people were complaining about how ugly their characters turned out to be.
