It sounds like your browser auto-filled your info, when you went to setup your PC Move info, causing you to link the incorrect Battle.net account. Regardless of the fact that no Destiny data existed on that account, which would have been shown to you during the setup, the system still went through the process of transferring data, as you had authorized it to do. Now that your Steam account received a data transfer, it is no longer eligible to receive further transfers. There is no option other than to create a new Steam account, if you want to bring the Battle.net data over from your proper account. If Bungie was able to offer a different solution to this, they would have long since done so.
It sounds like your browser auto-filled your info.
That's not possible, my browser does not have that feature turned on. It saves the passwords in accessible plain text which is something I'm not a big fan of. I think Bungie's website system may have actually taken the session from a battle.net tab that it opened in a popup, which would've been convenient if it weren't automatically grabbing the wrong account.
which would have been shown to you during the setup
See, that's the problem. I had no clue what to expect during this irreversible setup. I should've been shown my characters, not licenses for the game. And it did actually show me licenses that the account didn't own - it was showing Osiris and Warmind (which were not actually transferred to the steam account, so it lied). I knew the PC Move was buggy already because of complaints of failure and my own experiences, so I just accepted it as finally working. But I was wrong, I wasn't careful enough apparently. Blame me if you want, but I think it was careless of them to release such a crappy move system and have no way of fixing inevitable mistakes. You have to release a system knowing that people are going to screw something up, accounting for user inputs. My account is completely empty and it shouldn't be telling me that there's an existing save there.
