  • <The Darkness, or Winnower, is a primordial entity and the patron entity of the power of the Deep. The Winnower is in command of the Pyramid Armada, a race of [REDACTED] who we've only gotten the tiniest of hints about.>

A bunch of triangles that look harder to navigate than Trevor’s room, some hacker that talks through your ghost, a mirror with a slightly deeper voice, a statue and a ball? That’s pretty much what I’ve summed the darkness up to until I see something I can shoot at. Once I can unload a few rounds into it, then I’ll think about what it is. In all seriousness though, it seems to be similar to the traveler in the sense that, from what I’ve seen, it’s a sentient nothing. The traveler is just a big ball that goes around giving free light to anything that can walk in hope of building an army for defending it. While the darkness seems like more of a collective mind, many beings that are all connected. They also appear to be way more powerful and in control than the traveler is. The traveler just gives power to other people and waits for a few years, the most power it’s used was an overkill spirit bomb of light which only awakened the darkness. But the darkness seems to be able to fully control their powers, by creating nightmares, directly speaking to us and mimicking what we look like to try and make us join them. So it looks like they can choose whatever form they want, make whatever environment they want and damn near do anything they want. But then there’s the veiled lady statue, which makes me wonder if there’s a leader. Like a bee colony, you have the workers and the queen, what if the veiled lady is in charge of the darkness? After all, one of the pyramids looked much bigger than the rest at the end of the vanilla campaign. Yeesh, I went on for longer than expected, sorry for the slight text wall.
