<The Pyramid isn't deceiving us, it's flaunting its power. I will say that, in the context of Destiny, joining the Darkness is an unbelievably stupid move at the moment. This is precisely one reason why I don't like the idea of Dark Guardians. Don't get that phrase confused. I think we will get Dark abilities and use them in tandem with our Light. That's not a Dark Guardian, that's harmony and it's a smart move. A Dark Guardian in my eyes is someone who has given up Light entirely and would side with the Pyramid Armada. Toland scrapes by this criteria because he's actually kinda helpful and gives us some cool tips (Deathbringer). He's not an idiot, he's just kinda crazy. An army or even small group of Dark Guardians is a waste of potential. When we could've had moth people or ancient extraterrestrial humans from billions of years ago or gooey masses of undefined intelligence, instead that would be some lame ass mirror scenario that wouldn't even make sense time-wise depending on where or when you position the theory. Bit of a rant off one sentence of your post OP but I needed to expel my thoughts from the dark hole they crept from. If the Darkness came to us without the context of Destiny, then I'm all for joining it.>

 • It's actually quite reminiscent of Horus heresy era 40k lore. There's arguments to be made for why guardians would side with the darkness. It would be folly, but all we know of the traveller is it's overwhelming sense of self preservation and advancement. There's every reason to believe that when the traveller is fully rejuvenated it will just and leave. Much like the argument that swayed the traitor Marines to the side of chaos against the emperor in 40k

 • I like the idea behind the Drifter's Crew because it's not about being evil, but being self serving and outside the law. I don't think the Drifter would side with the Darkness, but will not hesitate to take advantage of it like he did with that Dredgen.

 •
Not really, more like Shin is using the Drifter
The Drifter is far to smart to be used.. He is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. One of 3 (him, the queen and Calus) that I know of with direct connection to the 9. Drifter is the only "guardian" I know of who can use all light abilities as he has no class (he can also summon taken).. And he's one heck of a survivor.

 • And yet Shin’s playing him like a fiddle. You see, he doesn’t know Shin is Dredgen Vale, so he just thinks he’s allowing Shin to use Gambit to flush out the Dark Guardians, when in reality, he’s just flushing out the weak-willed ones that will easily fall to the Darkness and finding the ones that can see in shades of gray. He also thinks he can escape the darkness. Drifter is a fool

 •
Not really, more like Shin is using the Drifter
Have you read the lore? Shin and the Drifter have the same goal. Gambit is a tool to weed out the bad from those with potential to be something more than guardians. Shin became a Dredgen because the OG dredgen (Yor) helped him to ascend.. Shin Malphur is Dredgen Vale.
