Steps that require a certain Crucible rank will work retroactively as long as you get to that step in the same season that you reached the rank in. So as long as you can finish the remaining kills before the 24 hour maintenance period, the Fabled step will automatically finish, even if you deranked before then.

Thank you very much for your reply. I found this out myself as I didn’t plan ahead so I couldn’t actually start playing on the 2nd of October. However, it took me a few hours of Survival to get to Fabled II - I’ve now just got to finish my last few precision hand cannon kills! I am aiming to get this done tonight!
