It can become a witch hunt. I'm sure Bungie doesn't want their forums to become havens for harassment. An innocent gamer could end up as a victim. You always have to worry about crazy gamers, like Tyler Barriss, going to the next level and "swatting" someone for payback.

But of the two (Bungie.net forums or Destiny 2 itself), only one of them involves exposing the end user's IP address to the person doing the SWATting, and that is solely due to Bungie's use of 'hybrid peer-to-peer' for Destiny 2. This wholeforum in the last few weeks has become a witch-hunt forum with all the #metoo guardians complains about cheaters lol. I’ve played 5 years and have never faced an in game cheater. These people are just creepy stalkers who want to find others like them to witch hunt
