Roadmaps I think you mean. My point here is that for all the talk of openness and transparency, every new release brings with it things that weren't covered and are hated. But by that point there's no chance of a dialogue with their playerbase, and good luck getting Bungie to fix anything once it's implemented. And the cycle seems to be beginning again in its trademark fashion. "We are being open" "We have nothing to say"

  • i understand what you mean. my thing is you cant expect them to know if gambit prime was going be as hated as it was when it was release. same with black armory they are coming up with ideas and trying new things. some things will succeed and others will fail. in the meantime we now have the option to buy certain things as we go along, we re not paying 5 years in advance for content and with things coming and going we need to be in the dark for certain things. if not, no surprises or potential lore spoilers. if that makes sense. wait a week or two after each content drop and see if you like it if not don't but or if you do buy .

  • Coming up with ideas doesn't equal them having a coherent vision. This has been clear since D2's launch (clear since d1 really) and its because this game has a lead dev who has never been in this position in his life. I can give a great example why this game lacks vision. What is the experience a players should get if they play a Warlock over a Titan? What is the play style difference between the classes? What type of players are expected to gravitate to a titan over that of a warlock? It is apparent that the Dev team has no idea. I mean this is the same lead dev who said "We dont know what the Darkness is" in an interview. You just made this game about 3 years ago and you have no idea what the big antagonist of the game is? So, what is the vision of the 3 classes and what effect they should have in combat? From what I can tell the Dev team has no clue because I myself cant find how a Sentinel Titan is supposed to contribute when his abilities are all about a slow slog through enemies in a game where many of your challenge modes are just time runners. Also, if you go back to when Staten was in control, the info being released about the classes was Titans were going to be the tanks of Destiny. That they were the class for people who wanted to play heavy armored damage resistent classes. When Luke Smith came in the only difference is movement and skin. They can all have close to the same states and they all inhabit the same roles with only Warlock and Hunters having some sort of utility through their supers.

  • yea sure, i see what you mean in that context. warlocks are supposed to have more recovery, titans had more resilience, while hunters had more mobility at the beginning of d2 . you seem to forget that theirs PVP that plays into this is why that cant expand on those things to heavy. PVE they should be able to expand more but i understand the limitations. You cleary know theirs a different feel for each class as to why some see certain play over other in certain activities. Dont blame bungie for the challenge aspect, look at your fellow guardians and honestly i think we're the reason they cant personalize the classes more because we complain about EVERYTHING revolving around any hard work.

  • I didnt forget anything. If PVP is their excuse then they are massively incompetent. The first class based Shooter was Team Fortress, you then have Overwatch and a whole host of Class based shooters where the classes have defined play. Having a class be defined by a marginal stat difference is another awful excuse. One, most classes will have similar stats due to the way armor is implemented and based on how the stats other than recovery do anything useful. You seem to think making excuses is a valid form of argument, it isnt. Pvp is an excuse because Bungie never defined how Pvp is supposed to feel in this game. Is it supposed to be battlefield with mystic super soldiers? Bungie doesmt know because all they seem to focus on is TTK. Also, every other game that has an RPG element and Pvp has learned that you cannot have a unified gaming experience. PvE cannot maintain interest when bound to PvP. Why? Because a game optimized for Pvp over PvE leads to an extremely boring game. It also causes problems because how do you make PvE more engaging when everything is held back by PvP balance? You can't. Again Bungie has no vision. You can deflect all you want but the proof is that in 3 years this game has had more game play revisions than any MMO I have played.

  • Well that's the problem .. tell me any of those are game that have bother pve on the same scale as destiny and has pvp on the scale as destiny you can't find one. All the ones you've named only focus on PVP. I'm not deflecting anything, I'm just looking at this from perspective, because as much as we want it having class based PVP sounds broken ass hell. How would a max health titan be affected by a health regenerating warlock with guns thrown in the mixture that need there own balancing. We scream and shout yet we want ttk to be .4 seconds but how would the player base feel that you can't touch and Hunter because the mobility will be out this world and a titen surviving 2 rockets because he has max health? How well do you think the player base will take to that. When will you point at the players as the ones that don't know what we want?. It's been said time and time again what's they want destiny to play like yet we need to accommodate for dads that can only play 2 hours a week .. when no other game does that. Bungie has a vision we just don't want to accept it or don't like it.

  • One, Destiny 2 primary focus should be its PvE, as majority of its players play PvE than PvP. Two, if you want to conti ue the excuse train, no RPG with PvE and PvP such as WoW has ever had a unified system. Destiny is the only one to buck this trend and look how bad the gameplay is. Its the only game to have raids where players who are the appropriate level are one phasing raid bosses. Three, they will never strike a balance because if MMO RPGs have to seperate the two systems how do you think Bungie is going to achieve it? 5 years and they haven't. In fact, as you are demonstrating with your posts you expect the majority gamer group to concede game play to the minirity gaming group as Pvp balancing is dictating PvE balancing which is making the game boring beyond belief. Finally, are you going to just make excuses for this game because you are a fanboy? I mean, if you arent paid to defend this game then its rather sad you would do so for free. You are basically saying that bungie cant make an immersive game because it has PvP, which is a lie, they cant have unified experience because PvPers tend to want Supers nerfed into the ground, as with class abilities. If you pay attention to Datto's fanbase they are very clear that they think Supers and class abilities should be removed from the game entirely.

  • Fair point. Obviously our expectations differ, I think I just expect more from a company with so much experience in the genre.

  • And that makes sense. I think one year at a time is the way to go. Because we can't predict whats going to change in 2 weeks from now in the gaming industry. Let alone what consumers may want or need . Road maps is good let's us see dates and time on the year were going through to make a decision ourself.

  • One year spans of content announcement is fine, I just don't believe in bungies capacity to tell us in detail what to expect, while simultaneously NOT omitting details that would obviously cause unhappiness in the majority of the playerbase. Openness and transparency is allegedly their goal, but evidence up to this point makes it very clear that it is one of the things they are worst at. And unfortunately, that method of partial truth is most often employed as a game steadily becomes more of a cash grab. So the pattern doesn't seem to be leading to a better Bungie.
