The biggest problem with the prequels was George's over reliance on cgi and his infamous reshooting of scenes until everyone was giving monotone deadpan on every single one of their lines like it was a trilogy starring elder scroll's npcs Narratively they are actually original and not blatant copypastes of the originals like the disney sequels are

I just didn’t think that an entire movie with Anakin as a kid was a good idea, I didn’t like Christensen for the role, and he went from being angsty to murdering children too quickly in my opinion. I wish that him as a kid was just like a 15-20 minute prologue to show the situation that he came from, and that the transition to the dark side was less like flipping a switch. I actually don’t have any real issue with the way the sequels seem so similar in that regard. The entire premise of the SW universe is the rise and fall of light and dark over and over again as a struggle for balance. Though I will admit that they do appear to be appealing to nostalgia with themes and cameos, I just personally don’t mind it in this case.

I dont mind people saying they like how the new trilogy is a rehash of the original. What gets me though is how last jedi is regarded as some original work of art and not the blatant ripoff of empire the way force awakens was of new hope

Oh no, they definitely are similar. I just think it’s appropriate, even if a little predictable, considering the nature of the fictional universe. The real test will be to see how it ends.

Never. I’m still traumatized by it.
