New Gambit Mode: The ZIGGURAT

The ZIGGURAT would be a brand new game type for Gambit, essentially Mayhem Gambit. Two teams start on opposite ends of a giant Temple / Mountain, which is split into two sides (One for each team, teams are unable to cross to the other side) and three Tiers. Each tier has multiple paths upwards from the start point, and enemies are constantly spawning and attacking the two teams. After the third tier, the teams may enter The Arena. The Arena is the final zone of the match where the Primeval spawns. This mode would have several large changes to the base gambit formula, being: Mayhem mode is active for the duration of the match. There is a single Primeval which both teams can attack. Win condition would not be killing the Primeval, but which team did the most damage to the Primeval at the end of the match. Match ends by timer or by killing the Primeval. Players can carry an unlimited number of Motes. Players can only bank once per tier. Players can batch-summon blockers. How to batch-summon blockers: The bank offers an option for how the players want to divide their motes, 1-4. Example, if the player is holding 20 motes, and they choose the "4" option, they would send 5 small blockers to the enemy side. If they chose the 1 option, they would send one giant blocker to the other side. These enemies invade immediately on the other teams current tier, and do not drop motes on their death. Once a team enters the Arena, the final phase of the ZIGGURAT begins. The final Phase is a full PVPVE Experience, with three factions facing off: the Primeval and its minions, and both teams, all in the same arena. While in the arena, both teams are in a full PVP zone. The Primeval will continually spawn additional blockers, and occasionally a "Chosen of the Primeval" will spawn, with considerably more health / damage. When the Chosen is killed, they drop a throwable orb that does damage and gives the team that threw it a stack of the Primeval Slayer buff. If one team manages to land three hits with throwables in a row, that team becomes immune to damage from the Primeval AND the opposing team for 10 seconds. Once the Primeval is dead or the timer runs out, the team that did the most damage to the Primeval wins! If this mode were to be added into destiny, Who built the Ziggurat / Where was it before the Drifter found it and started using it?

  • A little leery of the ‘climb’ portion - it seems (at least, to my understanding of the concept) like it would play out a little too similarly to the ‘bridge’ portion of the Reckoning, and likewise be very easy to ‘game’ as far as supers and the dreaded ‘meta’ go... ... but I love the idea for the final stage! Both teams essentially competing to burn the boss, burn each other (with the ‘benefit’ of doing so just the lost of damage inflicted, rather than the ‘heal’ of current Gambit), a goal for your more Sentry-style players to chase in the chosen - all very well thought out! How large would you think the final arena should run? I’ve always thought some kind of PvPvE event in a much larger space than Gambit would be fun - something almost the size of a (single area) patrol zone, but that would probably be too large/encourage too much sniper/linear fusion play for something like this. Cheers; well done!
