Destiny 2 should absolutely have been 60 fps at release. They would be out of their minds to not launch a 60fps patch with next gen consoles. Although I could see them sticking with 30 so that old gen isnt left in the dirt.. ick

  • They couldn't do 60fps because the CPU was causing problems. Even on PS4 pro and Xbox one X the CPU is just too weak

Dozens upon dozens of 60fps console games are out and have been out since 2017, when Destiny 2 released. I know very well that console processing power is terrible but other games have pulled it off just fine. Sometimes resolution in those games has to be sacrificed at graphically intensive times which is fine with me and would be fine with most other players, since framerate is much more noticeable than resolution. There should at least have been a choice in settings between prioritizing 60fps and prioritizing resolution

  • Bungie themselves said that they couldn't do 60fps because the CPU is too weak. Other games don't need to process networking, physics, and general game data like destiny does. This is their words, not mine. The physics for this game is quite heavy on CPUs and P2P networking doesn't help either.

  • What the -blam!-. I'm CPU bottlenecked on PC and I can run the game easily over 60 fps butter smooth. Thhe current gen is even worse than I though lol.

  • Neither current consoles can support Destiny at 60fps and 4k or near 4k.

I could care less about 4k. The amount of people that even own 4k displays is a minority. Most people would prioritize framerate over resolution any day of the week because the change is a lot more noticeable. Halo 5 has been out on the xbox one since 2015, the year after THE ORIGINAL DESTINY came out, and has always been 60 fps... on the original xbox models the resolution had to be scaled down to like 720p at times to compensate for this, which even that would be fine with me, and on the newer xbox one s and xbox one x it runs at 60 fps 4k with no problem. I know about how trash the processing power of consoles is, but the dozens upon dozens of 60fps console games that have released prove that it can be pulled off and could have been pulled off for D2. At least there should have been a setting to prioritize resolution or framerate to suit the needs of everyone, like a choice between 60fps and target 1080p scaling down to 720p if needed and 30fps with target 4k. That 100% could have been done.
