Hey there. You may want to try using another controller to see if that helps with your issue.
You may want to [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12539]clear your console cache[/url] and check to see if that might help with your issue.
As for the trial version, you can delete it from you won't be able to play the full game until you buy another disc or buy the Complete Collection.

Ok this ended up working for a very short period of time but after about thirty minutes this issue came back and proceeded to mess up the game

You must own the base game to play. Otherwise, you will remain in trial mode.
