You'll need to try contacting the current Founder; if you want to save your clan and keep it going, this is your only option.
Bungie's policy is to not mess or change Founder status or promote others to Founder or Admin within clans. Only the Founder can promote another admin to Founder.
The alternative is, as you said, create a new one and move people, but yes, sadly, you'd lose the name.

Yeah I figured that would be the case. Welp! Kinda unfortunate there is no vote to remove/promote tools within the clan system that would prevent clans from dying out in such a way. I guess I will have to explore my options, and then likely start looking for a new clan. Thanks for the response!
