Since Forsaken launched, I basically haven't used any auto rifles or scout rifles. I tried. But you're right, compared to a good pulse or hand cannon, they just don't compare. I'm not sure the actual DPS difference, but they certainly feel weak and like you're at a disadvantage using them.
This is weird because my positive outlook auto in year 1 was so strong in PVE and my mannanan (sp?) Scout was a beast, even in raids. I used them in the Forsaken early campaign and pretty much immediately vaulted them once I got a Go Figure.. lol.
I even put the time in to get Oxygen SR3 and Breakneck, played with them a little, felt "meh" to me, even for pinnacle weapons. Just don't feel like they have the stopping power or damage of a good hand cannon or pulse.
We should be careful though, Bungie might read this and nerf the good weapon archetypes instead of buffing the weak ones 😭😭😭

The difference is/was you could play your auto, Scout 24/7. Nowadays you'll have weapons for each enemy type. Like Huckleberry for trash, the New grenade launcher for bosses and loaded question for majors.

I don't think that's really the point. In year 1, in the primary slot, Nameless Midnight scout and Origin Story auto were very viable and strong. They were used in nightfalls and raids and anything. I feel like in year 2, pulses and hand cannons are just generally stronger and better. I'm willing to bet the percentage of usage for scouts and autos is very low across the playerbase. Just a hunch. I have some great rolls on scouts and autos sitting in my fault for whenever or if ever they get buffed 😉

Better devil and midnight coup were always meta but they were harder to master, play. I don't think that the HC meta will change. There was always a handcannon meta in d1 and d2. I will still use handcannon even if they get nerfed and Scouts etc perform better.

I agree to an extent. I have more kills with Better Devils than any other weapon in year 1. I just started rocking the D.F.A. recently and I absolutely love it. I never liked midnight coup, funky recoil and weird sounding gun, despite the great perks.

DFA feels lackluster if you compare it to Ace or the New random rolled ones. Check out my austringer. Perfect max range roll except the fukn subsistence perk. Rangefinder + snap would be so devastating.

Mate subsistence is a great perk, as long as you get a kill within two bullets it reloads and when rampage(with rampage MOD) it is devastating against ads and majors. I hope they reduce the ammo cut on your reserves by 25% but otherwise it's as good as outlaw if not actually better. The only perk that gets screwed by it is kill clip which I don't think can roll on Austringer anyway.

You're right, it's amazing in pve. The ammo cutoff is a joke. I have 52 shots with full ammo. It's a great roll but I think i prefer a snap, rangefinder for PvP.

Nice! I literally just got a Warden's Law from the warden nightfall, I havent really used 110 RPM's but might have to play around with it. Rampage, zen moment, huge impact and range with range masterwork. I am grinding runes to get a good Austringer!! I've gotten 3 and the perks are not ideal, so may take a while.

I had such high hopes for wardens law I dropped the currated roll when the perk was bugged. I'm not a huge fan of 110 rpm HC. The ridiculous thing is, the godroll austringer was my first menagerie weapon. I crafted 15 austringer afterwards and they all sucked ... I'm so low in green HC runes. Do you have a special method to farm them? I usually do PvP but only red, purple ones drop.

No I don't, I am a week behind in season of opulence as is, couldn't even play the first week. I just pop the runefinder consumables, do my milestones and hope to get lucky, lol. Good luck man.

I've gotten seven green runes just doing gambit milestones, in addition to other runes. Didn't even have the imperial buff active for at least a match or two. Only got 2 rune of desires though unfortunately.
