Really guys? Someone just expresses happiness & respect for those who are gay & you go berserk. Meanwhile countries are still killing people because they are gay & LGBT youth are still more likely to commit suicide than those who aren’t. Good to see we have our priorities straight.

I think a big issue is how easy it is to demonize something you disagree with. I mean take both the extreme left and right in America. Both sides demonize the other in an attempt to make more people go on their side. And that's just in our country. A lot of other cultures demonize everything else. I think the real problem is, is that we keep labeling people by stereotypes instead of treating people like humans. TLDR: Everyone should treat eachother with the respect they deserve. Sorry for the small rant.

It's a month because it's a massive umbrella talking about a great deal of issues, people, and current crises, rather than one homogenized group getting a "hey thanks for existing" thing like __'s day. It's more a "hey this is a period to reflect on one of the greatest issues currently faced against freedom right now, people live in fear to be who they are and are oppressed and sometimes murdered for their very existence." not exactly the same as like, a hallmark holiday.

I understand that, but a month is not right. You cannot tell me that the struggles of gay people are more significant than the struggles and remembrance of veterans. Veterans (alive and fallen) only get 2 days out of the year while gay people get 30 days. If anyone should be getting a month, it should be the brave veterans who put their lives on the line everyday for you to me so we can have this discussion. Not the person who happens to like people of their same gender.

Dude.. every day and month is awareness for dozens of different things, simultaneously. It’s really a non issue that pride is a month vs a day... June is also national PTSD month, National Aphasia month, and who knows what else.
