I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, micro transactions don’t belong in a loot based game. Period.

 • You do understand Bungie needs money to keep running, right? That’s how this world works. So if there was no eververse, DLCs would be more expensive. Eververse is a much better option, because you get to chose if you spend money on cosmetics. Meanwhile, if DLCs were more expensive, you’d have to pay the extra money to play the game

 • The money isn't used to fund or make DLC's cheaper, while it may possibly effect their price they already stated that Eververse spendings go to free events.

I've spent more on this game then I do for most games. Games like warframe, paladins, sea of thieves, halo 5, fortnite all make more content with less direct purchases than Destiny.

 • You do understand Bungie isn't a not-for-profit, right? Do you think Bungie is just in the game to "keep running"? No, hell no, they're trying to turn a profit so they can pay the owners fat bonuses. That's how business works, that's how this world works.

 • You should clarify, a loot based game that makes you PAY for the game. Warframe is loot based and has microtransactions, but is free, with free updates REGULARLY.

 • Eververse is purely cosmetics. She has 0 effect on gameplay. ZERO.

 • The game is starved of loot. Imagine if all those ships, sparrows, and ornaments could be earned out in the wild instead of a storefront. That’s how it effects gameplay. IMHO, I think if Eververse is going to exist, it should sell ONLY emotes, NOTHING ELSE. I don’t know how people like you even defend eververse, it just makes the already loot deprived game even worse.
i love the game, I just want it to succeed, not fail.
• While I agree that the purely cosmetic argument doesn't work, I do think that eververse exists for a reason. Especially now that Bungie has had to pay a lot of money to buy the rights to destiny, they are going to need a lot more in order to actually make d3 a good product. I also agree that it would be cool if eververse only sold the emotes, but again, Bungie probably needs the money right now.

 • Please send me a link where bungie says they have to buy rights to destiny, an IP they created and currently own. lol.

 • They did not have publishing rights, Activision did. It was a huge deal, have you been living under a rock? The fanbase exploded when they heard.

 • That's not what you said in your first post. Anyway, please send me a link to where bungie said they sold the publishing rights to Activision and now have to buy the publishing rights back when the deal ends. Don't think that's how that works.

 • https://www.polygon.com/2019/1/10/18177457/destiny-bungie-activision-split Here is your link. They never sold the publishing rights to Activision because they never had them. Activision funded destiny in exchange for publishing rights, and as such they had a lot of sway over destiny's lifespan. And yes, that is what I said in my first post, I just didn't get into the specifics of which rights they had to get back.

 • Nowhere in that article does it say Activision funded destiny for publishing rights. Also, Ive seen no proof that money is switching hands when bungie retains full publishing rights.

 • I mentioned that activision funded destiny and had the publishing right (as destiny's PUBLISHER, it's in the name really,) because it is common knowledge, but you don't seem to have common knowledge. Along with that, I realized after I sent it that money was not exchanging hands but if you want me to dig it up there is a video by YongYea/Jim Sterling that mention this as it was stated by Kotaku, who have been known to have bungie insiders.

 • Lol. I just want proof that what you said in your original post is correct. That poor bungie has to pay a lot of money to Activision to get publishing rights back. So far I've seen none. nO cOmMoN KnOwLeDGe.

 • Gonna be real with you, I can't find the video I was citing. As such I'm not gonna ask you to believe my point because I can't provide the evidence, but if you are willing to take my word I did watch a video by Jim Sterling on how Activision's stocks were dropping but they gained a decent amount of money after the Bungie/Activision split.

 • The game is a looter shooter. Eververse is just cosmetic loot. The fact that youre that disappointed you couldnt get a ship or sparrow just proves they know what they are doing. I have all the free Eververse items without paying a dime. Im not the one disappointed in not getting a "loading screen". LOL

 • I too get everything within the first month, but I still don’t like how it’s behind a storefront. In D1 getting a ship to drop meant something, it meant you earned something and you were proud to wear it. Now in D2, ships and sparrows are so devalued that there is no sense of pride and accomplishment when wearing a certain ship or sparrow, it’s just another item from Eververse. If you think it’s ok for cosmetic loot to be sold for money in a loot-based game you are a moron and you are the problem with this community.
