Disagreed with it from the start. Sure they’re powerful, but they’re not easy to get, either - they should be powerful. A lot of people said there should never be one weapon to dominate... Yeah good luck with that. In any shooter. Ever. Unless all the guns are EXACTLY THE SAME with different skins. In which case why bother making multiple skins? Just make everyone use the same gun if we can’t have variety in performance... But then everyone will complain it’s boring... People don’t seem to get the message. Bungie can’t win in this situation. If they keep things as they are, people will leave because they need to feel on an equal playing field. If they ‘fix’ the ‘problems’, people will leave because there’s no point. I’m certain leaving things as they are would keep a larger player base, of people who are their true target audience, playing the game. What they need to stop is catering to the vast minority who, bluntly, hate having to play the game. So a message to those people: Destiny has always been a grinding game. If you don’t want to grind, and suffer through hours of playing for what you want, you won’t enjoy it. Don’t come and ruin it for those of us who do enjoy it. Frankly, that’s just selfish.

  • If Bungie would just get dedicated servers for Destiny PvP they could implement skill based matchmaking in a reliable way. It really would alleviate a lot of these problems. People complain about these weapons because they aren’t enjoying their time playing against the higher skilled players who have them. Certain game modes like Trials (when it returns) need unique matchmaking, I think a card AND connection based system is the best way to go for that but that’s just opinion. Anyways, the crying will never stop unless low skill players are gated from dealing with high skill players. Do I think it should happen without dedicated servers? No. But to improve the health of their PvP community dedicated servers should be the number one priority.

  • Even if lower skilled players are desperate from higher skill players, there will still be nerf calls for the weapons that then dominate, and from the more ego-driven skilled players. As I said: bungie can’t win.

  • I would disagree to some extent. Lower skilled players generally don’t devote as much time to working on their load outs and optimizing for a meta and therefore wouldn’t experience it as much if separated from more serious and higher skilled players that do. The higher skilled players would still deal with stale metas and get bored and complain about it unless consistent changes to the meta were given. Mid tier players would get to experience a bit of both since they would likely be matched against lesser players some matches and better players in others. They would be the biggest group of your skill rankings and would end up the most reliable source to identify what is over/under performing. Not by their opinion, but by statistics directly tied to their performance. High end players slay no matter what, low end players get farmed no matter what. Mid level players may slay/get farmed depending on their load out. The data of their performance is what would be valuable.

Well, someone agreeing really is the last thing I expected as my first reply. Miracles do happen I guess? Glad someone else understands. We’ve needed a post like yours.
