The problem is that they're still making enough cash from stupid people buying into their stuff that this whole backlash is just a tiny echo in the back of their corporate heads.
The only thing that would stop something like this from the get go is a complete boycott. Which will never happen. Ever.

players will run outta money (and time) sooner or later since their scam greed has no limits , look how far it went sinced oblivion horse armor dlc, now they ask 2500$ to unlock all stuff (or grind 2500 hours)
