Lots of people have lost their accounts for doing paid carries over the years. They just turn around and start a new account. This happens on all kinds of games and I don't think any company will ever be able to stop it. The COD series has had it going for many years.

  • Isn’t that where console bans come into place? Also, new accounts have to buy the game again don’t they? The account is banned, but the game is licensed to the account.

  • You can’t get console banned for paid carries.

  • That makes sense. But having to repurchase the game license from a new account would hopefully be a deterrent.

  • I think thats only on PC. Hence why I dont do anything stupid on PC because I don’t want to risk a ban.

  • I wonder how account bans would work on console then. Seems like that’s a pretty big workaround, just to make a new dummy account to run carries on.

  • Say you have an account named "V123" on the ps4. If you get that account banned for doing carries, all you have to do is delete that account and reinstall the game and start a new account called "V124". On consoles, you can reinstall the game as many times as you want as long as you have the physical disc. Not really sure how it works with buying just the download. This also has a lot to do with every countries laws regarding this stuff. In many parts of Europe and Asia it is illegal for companies to outright ban you from playing something that you paid for.

I think with the disc it would be different. But for an online purchase, you pay for the license for that specific account to play the game. If you have the disc though, you would at least have to pay for a new subscription to Xbox live gold (using that example because that’s what I play on). Is a license purchased on PS4 good for every account on that console? I know for Xbox, if it’s a “home Xbox” for a specific account, any account that logs on to that Xbox can play any game that the “home account” owns, as long as they’re connected to the internet. But if the license for the “home account” is revoked for whatever reason for any of those game(s), other accounts won’t be able to play said game(s). I think that makes sense.

  • I would only think Microsoft could go only take away account purchases, but even thats rare.

  • Yeah, it’s not often someone gets a console ban, only when they violate Microsoft’s terms of use I guess. Dumb of me to think Bungie had any say in that >.<
