Typically, pc bans are due to software detected by Destiny 2 while running. These include but not limited to, trainers, aimbots, autofire, mods, graphics hacks, anything that injects code into games, debuggers for programing, even some viruses. any of these could cause a ban, even if not destiny 2 specific
Bungie does not discuss restrictions or bans.
Restrictions are temporary, and will not be overturned or undone before they expire. Once an account is banned however, that ban is permanent. Account restrictions and bans are only done in extreme cases; if actions were taken against your account, then it was with reason.
There are NO options to dispute or overturn account restrictions or bans.
Bans are lifetime for that account
Then how come I keep seeing posts of people being unbanned?
Where? I have seen a total of maybe 5-6 people unbanned in the year and a half of d2.
And I don't know how much clearer that I can make it that I'VE NEVER USED ANY OF THOSE TOOLS EVER.
Bungie's anti-cheat found something either on your rig or in your gameplay and flagged your account, Bungie staff then reviewed and confirmed the reason for the flag and that it did break the terms before manually placing the ban. As others have pointed out, it does not have to be a d2 specific program. I have seen bans linked to apps like borderlands commander, reshade, artmoney, cheatengine and all of these programs love to hide themselves in system tray when "not in use" just like many of their peers. Bungie does not release info as to what specifically caused the ban, as a pc gamer you are held to the higher standard of being expected to know what is running on your machine while gaming and if it is allowed by the game that you play.
