Transcendence Story Sign-Ups {Closed}
This is the beginning of a new story written by Myself with lore and combat composed by Agent Wyoming.
The story follows Four primary factions, each with their own beliefs and goals. Human society has developed around a powerful magic, Transcendence, an energy that gives power to those who are either born with it or become enhanced by it. Leaving behind scars and crystal constructs throughout the Corundum Star System, Transcendence has become a point of contention among the human race.
Please put down basics for your character (i.e. gender, personality, looks), the decision of what group you will be (And thus your name, general backstory, and magic abilities - if any - will be determined by) a quiz for those who make it into the story.

Guarded: Following a costly war with a rival faction , the Guarded now own the largest slice of power ever known to them. However, their expended resources due to the long war they've recently come out of has opened them up to attack by their foolish foes, the Legionnaires. Locked in a war against the lesser faction of xenophobic wretches, it is merely a matter of time before the Guarded once again claim dominance over the Star System.
Consortium: The greatest business of the cosmos is war, and there are no greater businessmen then the Consortium. Developing technologically advanced armor and weapons harnessing the power of transcendence for use in war, the Consortium has grown rich off the power they have sold to both the Guarded and the Legionnaires. With no foreseeable end to the conflict in sight, things are looking up for the market of war.
Crystal Hunters: Among the wilds and behind the scenes, the Crystal Hunters search for the greatest treasure of all: transcendence. Combing the system for any and all special resources, the Hunters have amassed a sizable stock of gear, equipment, and artifacts granting inside to the world's past. Watching the war unfold from the side lines, one can't help but wonder what may be left behind on the field's of carnage.
Legionnaires: Following years of silent gathering and plotting in the shadows, the Legionnaires are at last ready to fight against the depleted Guarded. Full of vigor and conviction, the Legionnaires won't let humanity fall into the lie that transcendent energy offers: godhood. With their righteous cause and strong wills, failure is not an option, and victory will be the only outcome.

(May add or change things.) Looks: professional, combat hardened, typically clean shaven. (Still need to find a few more correct words.) Back story: after participating in the horrors, and enough bloodshed to last lifetimes, of the last war, Aras made multiple attempts to reintegrate into normal society and peaceful life, all of which failed as he was draged into local conflicts and problems. His most recent attempt having the most success as a bounty hunter and enforcement agent for the consortium industries, where he has made well in plieing his trademark brand of efficiency to stamp out multiple outliers and rogue employees, benefitting greatly from access to and participation in numerous early and late stage testings of equipment and other products. Nowadays he spends his time as a security consultant and officer, furthering his practice of a peaceful person in his loose time, despite resorting to his bounty hunting days as life and paycheck deem necessary.

3 RepliesCrystal Hunter. Appearance: Sorta like Raiden from Metal Gear Rising. Equipped to the brim with cybernetic enhancements, that were the product of damage from a firing squad from a couple of space pirates. I contain some form of my human personality of liking cooperation and preferring to look for routes of success that don’t involve killing, but usually at times my robotic persona will take over, bringing me utmost rage and no empathy. It is due to this that I prefer to stay isolated, and I fear the power I hold and the sacrifice I made to stay in this body. Weapon: High Frequency Blade Secondary: Explosive Kunai.

I'll put up a character I made a few years ago, cause why not. Name: Azura Heart Gender: Male Age: 18-25 (use whatever you want if this doesn't work) Faction: I do wonder if neutral/mercenaries exist, that'd be cool. If not, the Legionnaires. Looks: -white hair, short and wavy -light yellow eyes -pale (kinda alabaster pale) skin -a scar on his back side -6 feel tall Personality: Pros: -tempered -confident -willing to do what he thinks is right, as long as it's within reason -optimistic and thinks bad people can become good (can be a con, depends on person) -likes helping others -good at communicating with others -quick thinker Cons: -stubborn -dislikes being helped unless it's a close friend or something -can be distracted easily -readily trusts people (connected to the 4th pro) -hates people talking about his family Backstory: only known family member was his mother, who personally trained him to be prepared for battle in case she died. When she did die, Azura was left with a magical red-colored scarf (since you said "magical" stuff was allowed) as the only heirloom of his family (you can add more if ya want). Now, he fights for the Legionnaires, the only other people he knows, never letting people talk bad about her. Magic abilities: (I would do weapon stuff, but idk what the weaponry would be) -the scarf: allows him to cast a shield over himself -can create illusions of himself (would that be OP? Is that even allowed?) -maybe not magical, but I think it would be fun to see what can be done with the blue jump thing Lightning can do in Final Fantasy 13 to jump farther and fall for a long distance without getting hurt. It acts like some sort of gravity well or something. You can see it in the opening cinematic. [spoiler]Yes, Azura is supposed to look a little feminine. I wanted his character to look like his mother when I originally made him.[/spoiler] Hope this one turns out well, even if my character doesn't make it in.

[Incoming File] [Subject: Beyting Shootout] [Target: Randa Mevan] Name: Randal Mevan, Aliases: Gheras, Hypon, “Mr. Roboto” Backstory: Randal was a young student at a college that would only accept the highest honor students in engineering, physics, and all aspects of science. Randal took part in almost every single class, becoming the top student of his grade within weeks of entering. He had friends, family, a rich background, and a good moral heart despite being a huge smartass. If there was a joke to be made outta it, he would make it. But that all changed at the age of 25. He had developed a terrible cancer in both his lungs and skin. So much so that it was untreatable. His doctors had estimated that he only had a year to live. Hearing this, Randal and his father, Mark despaired. But they didn’t give up just yet. Mark put forth an idea: of the body can die, the mind shouldn’t too. For the next year, they would work on a robotically body for Randal, failing for 67 triad, until Randal entered a coma. His father didn’t stop giving up though. On the 68th trial, he succeeded in merging Randals Brain with that of a robotical body. Mark 1 he called it. Randal woke up confused, and feeling strange, yet oddly alert and full of energy. His robot body, was functional. Eventually the military (cause why the -blam!- not) attacked his home, and tried to take Randal for study. Randal escapades, but his father wasn’t so lucky. The military would provide recompense for the family, but relations between the Randal and the acting military are tense. Lukewarm at best. Hostile at worst. Ever since that moment, Randal has been perfecting his robot body, tuning it to be both a weapon, and the best frame for “robot babes” for the next 50 years. Pros: -Smart as -blam!- -Incredible modifications to his body -Enhanced mobility -Can Pilot Any ship -Has multi-tools and guns in his arms. -Can be rebooted Cons: -Without his Durliem Core (Like the battery, only self sustaining) he will die. -Has possibility of getting a virus, but no real evidence suggests that -Prone to drinking. Yes, somehow he can get drunk. Known associates: -Tiger, Baron mercenary of the Jungle Shores, “The Storm” -“Gunslinger of the Burning Sun”, Shaun Malt (most associated with this target) -The monk of Nihlo Pass -VIP #5673, “The Man who shall not be named”, Umbra Vor (Intel suggests these two are enemies, possible exploitation) [Warning: More intel is required for this target for assessment] [Would you like to continue?]

Working for the highest bidder, I’ve killed Legionnaires and Guarded alike, but give me a few credits, and I can turn the tide of battle.

Also, the feeling of adventure is truly what attracts me to the quest - not any promise of riches or anything down the road. Looks: Old, cloaked in black from head to toe. Covered in straps for holding gear and loot that he finds.

Name: Valerius Kane Faction: Legionnaires Personality: Over-the-top fanatic for faction. Crazy loyal to legionnaires. Thinks that Guarded are disgusting heretics, that the Consortium are greedy losers, that the Crystal Hunters are cowards, and that the Legionnaires are amazing Gender: male Appearance: 6 feet tall, strong but not too muscular. Wields fantasy crusader/knight armor, but upgraded for the times. No skin is showing, real appearance is unknown. Weapons: Big ass flaming longsword that sends fire everywhere when used. Also has a big electric war hammer. Can duel wield both at same time, but usually doesn’t Abilities: 1. Stabs sword into ground, sending out wall of flame 2. Hits hammer to ground, sending out electrical shockwave Backstory: After losing everything in a previous war, he pledged his entire life to serve his faction. Feel free to add or change anything if it doesn’t fit with what kind of story you want to tell.
