They say the textbook definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Technically that's not the definition of insanity, it's the definition of stupidity. Though insanity does have a lesser definition besides mental illness, which is "extreme foolishness or irrationality"... So I suppose insanity fits too.
