This. No one reasonable said that Anthem or TD2 would kill Destiny. But Bungie is doing a wonderful job of driving their players in to the arms of the competition. I'm having a blast playing Anthem...and If Bungie doesn't get their act together, I'm out. Because I haven't missed Destiny one bit...and the more I get to know Anthem, the more I like it.

I gotta say, the game play on Anthem looks amazing. That alone makes me want to buy the game. Who doesn't want to fly around in fully customized Iron Man armor?

The flying is glorious....and the freedom it offers you in combat is amazing. Imo, most people who don't like the game are the one's trying to play it as a boots-on-the-ground shooter or an "on the rails" game like Warframe. But if you lean INTO how this game was designed to be played....and use flight as PART of combat....and realize that the vertical dimension was designed INTO the combat system? The experience is unlike anything I've ever had playing a video game. There is also a steep learning curve to getting comfortable with flying your javelin....but once you start to get comfortable you can do some pretty amazing things. What other game lets you pilot an Iron Man suit....and fly over the battlefield raining down death and destruction like a helicopter gunship?? Or jumping off a cliff....free falling for hundreds of feet....only then then ignite your jets and take flight? But people can't see this because they want to be part of the Kool Kids hating on the big-bad corporations....or they are part of that Manufactured Outrage social media culture feeding that negativity for quick clicks and quick cash.

I get that distinct impression as well. People want to not like this game because of who the publishers are. Anything from EA or Activision is going provoke that reaction.

I tried playing it right before Destiny 1 realeased....and I quit after an hour because I had NO idea what I was doing....or why I was even doing it. ...and anyone who is bitching about Anthem being repetitive CLEARLY has never played Warframe. I love to grind....but that game even exhausted my tolerance for it. But yet its just as kool to love Digital Extremes as it is to hate EA.

People are going on and on and on about the "expensive" micro transactions. One guy was going bonkers over an "ugly" armor shader for $8. I'm like, "O-kay. So, don't buy it. It's a freaking shader"

...and you dont' need ANY OF IT. Shit...the level of customization that is possible with JUST the tools the game gives you (basically the entire customization system from Mass Effect: Andromeda) as the BASE system....is stunning. Now that people have played enough to get a sense of how it works....you LITERALLY see no two javelins that look the same except for basic geometry. ...and all the MTX store sells is geometry changes (and you get COMPLETE sets), textures, and emotes. I can tell you, there is nothing in there that I've felt the least bit of need to buy...and haven't felt that my experience of the game or to express my individuality with my javelin has been negatively impacted by it. People are just acting like toddlers throwing tantrums regarding this game. Its pretty sickening to watch how people are trying their damndest to try to kill what is actually a good game. ...and they wonder why developers don't want to deal with this mob mentality....?
