The Skirmish Pt. 8 [Epilogue]
If you want to make this last chp super sad, toss this song into your spotify queue or search it up on Youtube (Your Tears Sad Piano Music)

Pt 7 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/250835459
The explosion was blinding, the Cabal were equally shocked as they were bested by a brave ghost. The generators all went up in flames. The Skirmish had ended. Marlo found his guardian buried beneath even more rubble from the destroyed Laboratory. “Oh Vince there you are,” Marlo called. His body lay there lifeless. ------SPARK-------- “Hmm,” ------SPARK------- “Vince!” -----------------------------------SPARK------------------------------------------ “Vince, wake up this isn’t funny!” ------SPARK------- “Why can’t you get up” ------SPARK----- “It can’t be over like this, not now. ---SPAR--- “No,no,no,no,no.no,no The ghost tried his hardest to pull the light back into his guardian. ----- SPARK----- The ghost looked up at the sky, possibly facing the Earth. “okay you win, have him back. To me he was your greatest warrior. Return to the light Vince. Enjoy your sleep.” Zana and Pegasus arrive in the lower levels of the lab. They call out. “Vince!” “Marlo!” They follow the wreckage and smoke. Atop a pile of rubble, they find Vince, peacefully laying. “Oh no,” Zana shouts rushing over. She notices the two dead Cabal and Vince’s wounds. “Where’s Marlo, Ti, res him,” Zana is frantic. “I can’t Zana, only his ghost can.” Ti replies solemnly. Pegasus looks around the room, “Wow he really outdid himself this time, what a hero,” he sighs. Zana shouts for help again, “Marlo.” The ghost appears above his guardian, “Sorry, I had to collect something.” “Quick Marlo, res him,” Zana asked. Marlo stares deeply at the hunter, “Why don’t you try.” Zana smiles, “Is that some joke?” she sniffles, “bring him back.” “And what if tell you that I’ve already tried.” She glares, “then try again!” Marlo floats closer to Zana, “And what if I tell you after I tried and tried. Before you even got here, begged our creator to give him back to me. And even after accepting his death. I tried a 100 more times after that, then what.” “Try again or I will shoot you,” Zana pulled out her gun on Marlo. Pegasus made a motion to stop her, but Marlo spoke up. “NO,” he floated up right against the barrel. “Listen here, you’ve only been at this for five years. Try 200, 200 years just spent looking for your guardian. And looking back it, every minute I spent with him felt like a lifetime. Because that man lying there dead, was my other half. I want you to shoot. You’d be doing me a favor because then I don’t have to go on in this world with no purpose at all, without Vince.” Zana lowered her gun. And broke down into tears. Marlo floated up to Zana “The light that creates us all is strange, but, as a ghost, I know one thing. It’s a power, a type of energy that can’t be destroyed. The Light that Vince had inside of him, lives on in me… and you and Pegasus. I can feel it. He loved and protected you two-all of us more than anything. His light will never die. So long as we’re around. Take solace in that Zana, as that is the best answer he could give, and I trusted him more than myself” “So, what now?” asked Pegasus. “Well the mission is over think, I managed to fix the comms and requested reinforcements” Marlo said, “The rest of Rubicon Outpost is returning in haste and the transports will be here soon enough, the Vanguard wants this area back under Guardian control we’re not handing anything back over to the Cabal!” “What are we going to do with Vince,” Zana asked. “I want to put him in the Crypt of Remembrance, where everyone will hear the story of how he fought and lived.” “That’s nice,” Pegasus-10 said. “Marlo, didn’t you say you were collecting something, what was it?” Neo asked. “Oh, sorry, these got damaged in the explosions, but these were the gauntlets we were making for you, I’m not sure if they even still work somehow. Try them on at least.” Marlo presented the gauntlets to the two hunters. Pegasus-10 slipped his on and so did Zana. “It fits like a glove, thank you Vince” Pegasus-10 said. He placed his hand on Vince’s shoulder and Zana’s over his heart. The guardians took a brief moment. Surprisingly the gloves began to glow as they became charged with arc energy. The ghosts all looked shock, especially Marlo. “But the gloves are damaged they shouldn’t be able to absorb an arc charge from a dead body let alone hold one.” Marlo stated. Neo took a closer look, “it seems to me the Arc energy is forming its own infinite loop in the damaged circuits somehow. It’s sustaining itself off of some unknown source-“ “His Light, Vince’s light is doing this.” Zana spoke up. “Well, I guess I’m never taking this glove off then,” Pegasus said. “Neither am I,” Zana said. As the two guardians made there way up from the basement, they stopped in the room with all the holes in the wall. “Wow, I can’t believe my tether’s still up, it’s been awhile. This glove is really something special now.” “Lucky you,’ Zana chimed in. As the Guardians sat down for a moment remembering the battle shared with their old friend. Caliva’an the Forced Genius was cloaked sneaking his way out of the room after seeing the aftermath of the Laboratory battle, he made no argument about fighting to the last man. But as he reached the door way the Void Tether reacted to his unseen presence and stopped him in his tracks. The two guardians seeing the Flayer with matching armor to the two Valus’ aimed a Void bow and Golden Gun at the high-value target. All their emotions boiling to the top their light began to seep arc energy across the barrel of her gun and arm, and from Pegasus-10’s eyes down the drawstring of his bow. “Pegasus” Zana spoke,” you remember that favor you owe me?” “Uh-huh,” the Exo nodded not moving his sight form the Flayer. “I don’t need the first shot, but just promise me you’ll shoot that bastard in his right eye and I’ll get his left.” Pegasus chuckled, “now that sounds like a great offer!” -----------------------------------SPARK------------------------------------------------
Thank you all for reading, I got caught up in everything last year and only now can I finally conclude this outrageous fan-fic. Sorry not sorry. I leave the lore section alone for a bit. Hope you enjoyed.
• Pardon me for taking so long to get to you. I was going to start reading this from the beginning, but there is no link to Part 1. The link in Part 2 only leads to the home page or whatever for Destiny Companion. Do you have a link to the first part? Also May I add this to my Archive?
