(FAN STORY) Another Side of the Fight: Prologue

Here it is, y’all. It’s finally here. Unfortunately for those who don’t understand, it’s my fan story, cause I don’t like it termed “fiction” (due to a negative stigma toward the term). This is a fan story, so haters don’t hate in the comics, it’s my first one! Anyways, enjoy and please leave any tips and constructive criticism below. Prologue It’s warm outside. The sun is shining through the windows, broken and encrusted with centuries of dirt and vegetation in an unexplored area of Earth by the Vanguard, and trees the size of the apartments back in the Last City. A house hidden behind some large bushes became my “base”, if you could even call it that. Three packages of instant ramen, and half a liter of water are left in my travel pack. “Well,” I whisper out loud. “Only a couple more days and you can revive me Ghost.” Ghost is a very impatient and nervous little light, but he tends to keep himself busy with scanning things around the environment. Little did he know, we were in the place I grew up after he revived me, brought me back. “Look at this photo. It looks ingrained and dirty. Seems like a piece was torn off of it,” he responds, ignoring my comment. “This place, seems like an old memory that’s misplaced,” he pauses. “Do you remember what your life was like?” I stare out through the broken window, into the green shroud of trees that cover up the sunlight, shadows dancing on the concrete and gravel, while I zone out. “Oh, sorry…” Several hours have passed, as me and Ghost found some supplies, some sticks, and a bit of dried up oil canisters that we opened to start a mini fire. The sun was just setting, as I opened the water and took a swig. Just as I began cooking some ramen, we heard a earth quaking boom from above, then electrical noises. Ghost and I looked at each other in shock: the Fallen found us. Quickly, Ghost pulled out my sparrow as I quickly grabbed as many of the supplies I could, but a wire rifle shot the packets of ramen that were left. “Ghost! Get to the ship and send out a distress beacon!” “That’s what we should not do! You know what the Vanguard will do if th-“ “Just do it!” I interrupted, pulling out my trusty Hawkmoon. As the Skiffs were lowering for drop, I shot out the cannons on two of the ships, while the other fired at me. I took cover behind a rusty car, engraved with the word Volkswagen. “It’s sent! I hope you have a plan, Mira,” Ghost spoke into my helmet comms. Just as I began to reply, I saw Ghost get hit by a shock grenade, and he fell to the ground. “NO!” I ran as fast as I could, and I threw a void wall grenade to block the Fallen advance. “Ghost! A-Are you okay?!” “My internals a-are jumbled… my core i-is weakening… I think… I-I’m dying-” he pushed with one last sound, then his blue diamond shaped eye faded. Before I knew it, a Captain came up behind me with a shrapnel launcher and smacked my head to the ground, and as I went in and out of consciousness, that’s when I felt the loneliness settle in, watching my Ghost disappear in the distance.

 • THOSE MONSTERS SHOT THE INSTANT RAMEN!
”Oh great, now I’m surrounded by [Fallen]! What are you gonna do, knock me unconscious?” *gets clubbed in the back of the head with a stick* “Perfect!”
Oh boy. Dead Ghost, apparently on the Vanguard’s bad side, and now taken prisoner by Fallen. Sounds like a fun day.
