Disclaimer: This post is Fanficiton, which is allowed in #Lore as declared by dmg04, link here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249545832?sort=0&page=0&path=1. You are well within your rights to instantly downvote, but there are a few things I would like to state first: 1) If you wish to no longer see any of my posts, please block the tags #Fanfiction or #ringer7. By doing so you will never again see any Fanfiction from me in the future. You can also simply mute my profile if that’s prefered although I am #lore Titan Vanguard so you may miss some lore. 2) Downvotes, based on friends' and my observations over the last few weeks, actually help keep a post in trending as they count as engagement. Cheers!
"You’re the only Warlord I know who held an entire mountain.” “Felwinter Peak.” “No one ever calls it that.”--Warlord Citan to Iron Lord Felwinter *************************************************************************** A Titan stood on the precipice of a frozen cliff. Around his shoulders swirled a dark cape made from the pelt of some long dead beast. The name of the mountain he was on was long forgotten. Perhaps it had once been a thing of glory; now it was only another rock on a dying world. Maybe one day some traveller would come and give the mountain a new name, but the titan was not the one too do so. His name was Ringer-7 and his life was war, not the naming of names. The guardian's ghost appeared at his side. Her bright blue eye roamed the snow covered surface soaking in all the splendor of a bright, Russian winter day. "I still can't believe the Commander quarantined this place," Stedi said to her guardian. "Until recently the Fallen had been scared off. It would've made a nice vacation spot!" Ringer-7 looked at his ghost fondly. " I don't think I could picture it right without all the war and battles we've been through. " Stedi nodded slowly as she watched the pine tree tops away in the distant horizon. She was about to respond when she caught something on her sensors. "Something's on the approach!" Ringer unslung his rifle from his back, preparing for the worst. It always seemed that no matter the occasion the worst always happened to guardians. He had no idea why. A jump ship came into view over the line of trees. As it got closer Ringer could make out the shape of it and it's signature look. "Shielding Eagle," Said Ringer confidently. " I knew he'd come. " The Shielding Eagle gracefully descended to the snowy ground. Its landing sent the crystallized water outward into a miniature blizzard. Our of the jumpship came a Titan, powerful as the mountain itself. On his hips were two hand cannons and on his back was slung a shotgun. Ringer could see that in the ship's interior lay a special HMG. He knew it well, for had it not once been his? The two exos strode towards each other, locking arms as they met. "Giant, I knew you'd come! " Ringer-7 said to his friend. "How was Old Chicago?" Giant grinned . "It was nice. All the Fallen you can stomp and then some." His face grew serious. " Keksis was there, like I thought. " Ringer walked back to the edge of the cliff, looking intently at an object below. "Hmm. Did you figure out what he was after?" Giant took a stand beside his fellow Titan and pointed North. "I found a lead. Trail goes to the Plaguelands." "Well then, sounds like your gonna be busy." "Sounds like you already are." He turned to regard Ringer. " What was the call for? " Ringer held out a piece of old, worn cloth. On it was an Eliksni symbol translating to judge. "Variks and Shadow contacted me to warn us of a threat." He stuffed the piece of cloth back into his satchel. " The House of Devils still lives. " "What! After all this time?" Giant instinctively moved his hands closer to his cannons. Ringer only nodded. "They have a new leader, Thelksis, who isn't willing to lay down the old banner. And I'm going to need some help when I confront him." "You know you can always count on me, Ring. You were there for me, I'm here for you." "Erica is currently tracking the Devils to somewhere in the Himalayan Dead Zone. But right now I need help with something else. And I think you have just enough time for it on your way to the Plaguelands." Giant motioned with his hand to continue. Ringer raised his hand to point to spot far below the cliff. As he moved, snow fell softly off of his cape and shoulders and into the whiteness underfoot. Past Ringer's pointing fingers was a Ketch, small and brown in the distance. "I need that ship." Giant slowly nodded. Ringer-7 wasn't one for subtly. Then again, what guardian was? A thought occurred to Giant, "What happened to your old ship?" While readying his weapons, Ringer explained, "Variks and Shadow had need of my ship after they were attacked. Their old one got a hole blown in it from what they told me." Well that explains it, thought Giant. He looked down the Cliffside at the mass of fallen below. The majority of the crew were outside of the Ketch for shore-leave. The little specks below hustled to and fro, eager to finish their tasks and return to the warm air and cool ether of the ship. Giant finished surveying the land and turned to his ghost, his Echo. "You thinking what I'm thinking, Echo?" Ringer turned to look at the pair. "Sure am, sir!" The little light replied. Giant turned to his fellow Titan and gave him a solid City salute. Without another word Giant threw himself off the mountain towards the foe beneath. As he fell he cast his shield of the Void and rode it down the mountainside. Ringer's Ghost poked her head out over the ledge. "I hate it when he does that." She murmered. As she spoke, however, Ringer charged his weapon, his body, into a mass of arc light. A lightning bolt proceeded to follow Giant to the ground. As the bolt struck a sound as of a Thundercrash rent the air. A few brief moments of blinding Void and Arc was all the time allotted to the Fallen to repent of their crimes. Back on the mountaintop were only footprints. Broad and deep they marked the place where two men had stood in alliance. Their steps had left a mark on this mountain's crown and at its feet they wove destruction. Children of the city say that the footprints still remain on the edge of the precipice, so deep was their impact. But who can say whether an infant's dreams are true or not? The Mountain of Footfall stood silently as two ships headed of in opposite directions. The mountain, the earliest Titan, watched them depart. Its pinnacle reached for the heavens as the two guardians reached for their goal. /Dive into the Trenches?/ https://www.bungie.net/en/Groups/Post?groupId=3422633&postId=249426639&sort=0&page=0 ~My Masterpost is now updated with links to all my main parts and Giant's Masterpost as well.~
If you caught the Ray Bradbury reference you are a gem of society.
