The thing about destiny content is that , in the pve side at least, pretty much everything is silly mechanics such as jumping, grabbing balls, throwing balls, calling a bird or fish sign.

  • Maybe they are silly but there is still a large amount of players that can't figure it out. Last week's blind well proves it. 4 people shooting an immune shield until my friend and I passed balls back a forth to drop the shield.

  • Yes but one thing is figuring out something and another is a mechanic being silly or childish. Now that you guys figured it out. You just do it again and again. Grab and toss balls. I personally rather have some sort of mechanic more related to shooting than gimnastics. Like having to shoot the ogrers eye to weaken his shield or something. Maybe he then goes berserk and we need to shoot the back part of its leg to make him fell. You know stuff related to shoot or use our powers. But thats just my opinion.

  • They have both though. Not just puzzles and not just shooting mechanics.

  • I agree but at the same time don't. Yes Bungie could use some more mechanics that rely on gunplay and no call outs and some other more unique stuff. However having these kind of mechanics are good as well. They help with team coordination and can provide a challenge at times. And then the ball mechanics are nice because not every mechanic should require a lot of focus. Having something simple like the ball works perfectly to fit this role.

  • Yes its not that the silly mechanis should not exists at all. But they are just way too predominant. Like they should not dictate the outcome of an encounter over your shooting skills, loadout, etc.

I still mix up Left-Handed Fish Spearing Falcon Diving Down and Left-Facing Falcon Down Diving On Speared Fish.

tell me about it. I think pve should focus more on shooting. shooting tactics. Certain weapons for certain parts of a battle. Confronting an enemy that requires us to actually make use of our abilities. But no. We actually need to tell another guardian to stand or shoot random platforms or whatever. That for some unknown reason someone build. Its like bowser designs the encounters seriously. We could be battling waves of those red cabal ships. Interceptors. You know. Using our brains and our hand to shoot. But no. We are gymnastic class guardians or something. Thats why part of the game feels boring and monotonous. Because we keep grabbing and throwing balls and calling animal signs. Jesus its 2019 and i still see this shlt in destiny. edit: -blam!- typo

  • I am of the same mind. It occurred to me the other day that throughout the leveling-up process and all the missions and strikes, we are engaged in a lot of shooting, movement, and use of varied gear to apply firepower to the problem at hand, and a relatively low amount of mechanics (orbs, plates, etc.). The raids in D2 completely flip the script, and ask you do to minimal amounts of combat and a tremendously heavy (by comparison) load of mechanics. It's basically reaching endgame and finding out that it's actually a different game. All the crap you did up to then was only somewhat relevant.

  • Yup. Leviathan is mediocre at best. Im a guardian. I hide from dogs, and run and jump to please an unknown robot voice or something (calus). Sigh. Im currently enjoying warframe. There is a lot of shooting. basically thats all you do. But it feels fine. I actually make use of my abilities and they help me and other Tenno ( thats what the players are called). Guns kinda matter too and there is LOTS of customization. Enemies are sensitive to certain elements. Also you upgrade your weapons and make them more effectie agaisnt shields, armor or flesh. So there is a bunch of things you can build your story around, your style, what weapons etc etc. I dont need to talk in most of the activities. Its clear what we need to do. We kill stuff and help each other out. Load times are FAST at least compared to destiny. I have a pet, i can customize my pet. You have drones that help you. You can do space battles. Literally it feels that what destiny lacks in pve. Warframe kinda has it on its own way. And i doubt they have as much money as activision gave bungie. You should try it out. It gives the player lots of room for thinking how you want to play. Its a bit grindish thou. Since its a F2P there will be parts where naturally if you buy some real money currency youll progress faster.
