I don’t understand people that complain about no matchmaking for raids or nightfalls. LFG is RIGHT THERE. I’ve run 25 Last wishes with LFG groups and got my hands on 1k Voices. There’s some noobs who have no idea what they’re doing but I find them once in a blue moon. Not that tough.

  • LFG is not useful to most and the forges show that standard matchmaking (the forges have level matching too) would work fine for nightfalls and even the raid. If you didn't know. The game can actually detect mic availability. The only issue is for raids is that Bungie would need to do extra work to add a vote to kick mechanic, a match solo's only mechanic (it would be idiotic to match groups with a stray solo as it's almost guaanteed the group would kick at raid end or when a friend came online etc. etc.). Most other games with raids allow for matchmaking because at the end of the day rude people with mics will happen whether they were matchmade in or LFG'ed so trying to use that as an excuse is pointless.

  • Except that LFG allows you to specify what you’re doing, who you want for it, their SKILL LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE, etcetera. You can look them up on Raid report and see whether they’re actually capable or just full of it. If you matchmade for a Raid I’m sure there would be someone without a mic pretty often, and even more often people who have never done it before. And matchmaking would make guided games effectively useless. LFG is far better because you can ask for specifics instead of getting stuck with two 603 Guardians in Volundr like how it was at the start of Black Armory. And there’s no reason for them to entirely throw away the app LFG and create an in game LFG just for the sake of convenience, it’s literally just on a different device.

  • An odd response from you. Matchmaking works by matching you with people trying to do the same event you've just selected. This is 100% more efficient than trying to get a working LFG team together. If I were in a queue for nightfall I'm pretty sure everyone else would be trying to nightfall too in that same queue. If you mean using LFG for thing such as farming nightfall loot or 100k runs then sure but, again this could just be a different option on the map with Bungie curated modifiers active each week. Such an option would even remove the constant score cheesing that goes on these days.

  • Except it literally doesn’t. Say you need to go into Last Wish to do the Thunderstruck triumph. How many people do you think matchmaking will give you that are immediately on board for that and are competent enough to pull it off? Not very likely. LFG allows you to create groups for specific purposes. I guarantee you 90% of the hardcore players who actually know what they’re doing in raids and nightfall’s would only use matchmaking if they’re bored and have time to kill.

  • Not saying LFG does not have it's uses but, you have to conceed that 90% of the stuff we want to do can be quickly and easily done with matchmaking. Remember the recent haloween haunted forest. That system was perfect. You could run it as a self created group or jump in ans matchmake the event. 99% of players who finished even the most complicated triumph for that event did it via the matchmaking queue.

  • Haunted Forest. Great example. Very difficult to get to level 7 with blueberries, but with a coordinated team we hit branch 10. If you’re wanting to go in there for easy stuff and have fun, matchmaking is great. But for Nightfalls and Raids (which by the way, Nightfall’s aren’t what they used to be, because now we have scorecards and the fireteam leader’s is the only that counts, so if you wanted to get a 100k Nightfall which is one of the powerful drops, you would literally still have to LFG.) and Raids, Raids aren’t a walk in the park. You don’t still get rewards even if you don’t get to branch 7, it’s either you do it or you don’t. And spending an hour on an encounter with people who don’t know what they’re doing is not my idea of fun. I’m not saying matchmaking wouldn’t be used, but it wouldn’t be used by anyone who’s just trying to get it done

  • Because it would never work? I mean if youre asking for a 1:1 recreation of the app or a discord server into the game...why, it like literally exists already, just use it. There would be no way to make a good lfg in which people are able to discriminate and host raids with their own parties however they want to do things... If on the other hand you want just a plain old random matchmaking like forges... well.. if you think that would work you'd be sorely mistaken.

  • agreed! I shouldn't have to leave the game app to open up another app to find people who want to play the game.
