The part about raid matchmaking I think is wrong.
You in one sentence mention Gambit and Crucible afk people being an issue, now imagine matchmaking into a raid and half your team is afk? Or they don't have mics... or they speak a different language...or they are only there to troll and jump off the map with relics etc...or they have zero raiding experience and you're wanting to do a speed run...
There's probably alot more reasons that matchmaking in raids would be a disaster, but the ones I mention are the first that come to mind for me.
Also this is of course just my opinion and I do like your post ☺

Good points made here, but due to the fact that a raid cannot be completed without every player being present i feel like AFK for completion wouldn't really be an option

But..it would be an option, just to troll. Or do you think Bungie would just have no penalty for leaving in the middle of a matchmade raid? If it didnt that make everyone free to troll at will and leave whenever things dont go their way. If there is a penalty, trolls can just waste everyones time.
