The first two questions hit home. My vault is full of weapons and armor that I would love to use someday but will never be able to in all honesty. I will never have enough enhancement cores for cool builds. And by the time I even have a a few armor/gun options stacked at 650, it'll be time for a new season and a higher cap anyway... If they don't fix the enhancement core thing, There won't be any fun in playing past Black Armory for me

  • You don't need enhancement cores to make a build

  • An ideal build at your maximum level. Otherwise you're playing with your best pieces at a lower light level

  • Power doesn’t matter in pvp at all. Power doesn’t mean slot on patrols either. Test out those builds in these places and enjoy. Hell even nightfall at 540 is doable for sure and you could play nearly any build you want. Having max power is only necessary for raiding and iron banner and the Forges.

  • Do you really need high light though? Other than the new raid once you hit 600-610 You can do all the content with relative ease.

  • To do the forges, you still want to be higher than 600-610. Plus it would make it easier when the next expansion comes out, to already be at max... If your focus is pvp, it wouldn't matter at all, but cores help for pve immensely.

  • I mean...it takes less than a week to get 610. The people who complain most about cores are those who play like 1/2 hrs a day (which is fine btw idc)...but do those people really need to be infusing everything for cool builds? I mean you arent gonna use them..you barely play the game enough to get to max light let alone make builds with perfect armor perks sets or god roll guns so no real need to even masterwork them. If you dont care/have time for end-game none of it even matters anyway really, no content in the game requires even close to an optimal loadout unless youre going for real end-game challenges like solo-flawless shattered throne, somthing a casual is never going to do anyways.

  • Straight, honest truth there.

  • I play a whole lot now, but I started in November and the infusion thing is a slow grind. It makes it difficult to pick up this game and play optimally or feel "powerful" while playing this game casually while playing other games. Think of how much it costs to masterwork a single gun. How long does it take you to get enough cores to masterwork a gun? In a game with so much variety, it'd be nice to be able to masterwork a good amount (10?) and have two-three full armor set options (pve, pvp, ones for different subclasses). It just seems unnecessary to require the cores.

  • It's not.. for a hardcore player who is the target audience for such a system. Casuals have no need to masterwork, there is no content in the game which requires it. I have tons of fully masterworked guns and sets, some with god roll perks and mods just for specific activities and some for just themes like fallen or whatever. I have more cores than this game will ever has a use for.

  • There's a level of hardcore that makes sense and a level that makes players abandon a game. Requiring hundreds on hundreds of hours to make use of a function of the game is absurd. The enhancement cores can be incorporated into the regular grind more (maybe you get one for each legendary breakdown) or taken out completely. I've played mmorpgs like this before and never encountered this kind of grind requirement in the endgame.

  • Yes. You could abandon the game, but bungie knows many won’t. Why? Because people complain about everything. It’s part of life. So quit or put up with the system or, play a bit more and ease your own issues.

  • Then you haven't been playing actual MMOs... This is childs play compared to any mmo.. Let alone any hardcore one. I mean look at borderlands 2, it isnt even an mmo and takes thousands of hours of grind to make perfect sets and builds. Enhancement cores are fine honestly. There are plenty of people who play more than me, and yet I have hundreds. Casuals do not need to masterwork gear. There is no point in them doing so anyway, nothing they play will ever require it.

  • Thousands of hours? "Casuals"? So basically you mean anyone with a job or any kind of life outside of the game. Just working 40 hours a week. Having 1 other hobby (like going to the gym for 1-1.5 hours a day) and maybe going out with friends once or twice for a few hours at a time on weekends, would preclude you from putting in thousands of hours into a game. Even if someone spent EVERY bit of their time outside of those things playing a game, they still wouldn't classify as hardcore under your standards. If more gaming companies are only making games and levelling systems for people who think like you, gaming is actually doomed.

  • Let’s assume you are right. This game is t fir someone like that to be able to be collecting and earning all those top end builds etc. you get out what you put in. If a guy goes to the gym 4 hours a day he can get more gains tha. The 1 hour a day guy. Same thing in this game. More time, more stuff. Choices. Make them. Deal with them.

  • What I've been talking about gives everyone a bit more across the board. So the 4 hour a day guy still gets more, but now the 1 hour a day guy gets to actually make his character into something he likes also. Doesn't take anything away from the game for everyone to have a bit more of what they want. For example, I have a friend who is a doctor and works even more hours than I do but he intially wanted to get the game to play with me. He still plays Xbox a fair amount but he can't put say 20-30 hours in a week. He can maybe do 10. I told my friend not to get the game because he wouldn't be able to get into much with only that much time. Players who put in more time will always have more resources. They should. They should have more armor choices. They should have their collections filled out. They should have all their weapons masterworked and every piece of armor at their maximum light level. But it would be good for everybody if we were all getting enough cores so that the 10 hour a week guy could even masterwork one gun and keep one set of armor at his highest light level. There would still be a scale. Of course 10 hour a week guy won't have a pvp build, or a build built around his best handcannon, or a nightfall build. But he could stay least make ONE build whereas now there is a ceiling. You can't even play the game without putting in way more time than the vast majority have.

  • I completely disagree, if you can only put in 10 hours a week, you have no reason to upgrade your weapon to a full masterwork, if you choose to that is up to the individual player but, that is a significant investment choice that may limit your ability to upgrade a different weapon or armor peice.. again choices that make a difference. What you are talking about is attaining things far beyond what you NEED to play the game at your current time investment. You don't need max power or masterwork anything. Night falls are 540 so being 650 is not necesary, you don't need to masterwork the weapons and armour you have because the necessity for those things is not set up for a casual player, it is there for the hard core player. You are simply fighting your own choices by thinking and expecting you should attain many of the things set up for hardcore players.. you just don't have the time and hterefore the resources and frankly, will not be attempting the things that those hardcore mechanics were set up for. I play ESO with my wife.. rarely... I have little resources.. hardly anything that I really get about the game but, we have fun just using what we have, knowing that we are not going to take on the hardest challenges.. set the attitude and expectations to the investment you have and you will likely enjoy things far more.

  • What? Im sorry did you even READ the post??? I was comparing somthing which you apparently know all so much about..but i guess you dont? Destiny isnt even anywhere CLOSE to needing that many hours as a game such as Borderlands 2, which isnt even an mmo really. That was my point, you think this is bad, its not. You can, as a casual player, easilly reach the max liight cap at a steady pace...not that there is much point, casuals dont participate in end-game activities in the first place. Masterworking is supposed to be for hardcore players, to craft perfect armor and weapons with god rolls in every aspect. Casual players have no reason to do this...they arent going to use them anyway, so just use it for infusion. What need does a casual player have for making a perfect taken mod set with god roll perks and fully masterworked armor for resistances if they arent going to attempt a solo flawless shattered throne? There is no point. They were never going to do it in the first place...just like how a casual player in borderlands is never going to reach level 72 and do raids...doesnt mean they cant enjoy the rest of the game. Doesnt mean they cant use all their resources in early game items like infusing. I think your PoV is so negative - do you think people who have more time are any less than you? I hope you know mmo's are funded by the hardcore whales that play it every day. What if we DO want to make some games for people who play more than you? Its not as if *gasp* there are thousands of other games catered to casuals out there, why would 1 game for a particular audience be bad? Gaming is doomed because of people with your attitude who wont even bother to read someones post they can effectively respond.
