There are a few problems with removing duplicates.
1. It would make fated engrams useless
2. It would make players expect a new exotic every time, so the excitement of getting one would be almost gone.

I think with how inconsistent rng is across the player base there needs to be something to stop duplicates, but resets at weekly reset. Or simply have Xur sell new exotics. But it won’t happen coz bungie can’t create content quick enough to keep people engaged, as annoying as the rng is it hides how empty this game is

I think Xur should sell year 2 exotics, or at least drop year 2 exotics from his fated engram.

Plus, people would have everything pretty quickly and then complain about having nothing to get...it never ends in this place, perpetual impatience

It’s a game, the sooner i can get everything and start playing for fun the better, stuff is way too dragged out right now and a lot of players are very disappointed with it and some have stopped playing destiny altogether because of no content

That's another good point. People in this community are never happy with what they have. Only when they get everything are they satisfied, but that satisfaction shortly disappears after they realize they have nothing to do. We just go back and forth like a seesaw because the community can never make up their minds on what they want the game to be like.

That’s coz d2 feels shallow and empty of content compared to d1. Bungie are relying on rng to extend the lifespan of d2 and hide the pathetic lack of real content

I don't think Destiny 2 has a lack of content at all. In fact, I think it has more content than Destiny 1.

I usually get at least 1 exotic drop a week.

That’s about my average unless I hit a major dry spell then I get like 2 in one day

They don't actually pay attention to the amount of exotics they drop...all they look at is how.many duplicates they get and equate that to never dropping exotics
