1984 by George Orwell
Liking this book is a thought-crime so forget I said anything.
Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis
Lewis might not be your cup of tea judging by your current selection, but this is one of his more secular novels. It's a retro sci-fi tale that is surprisingly philosophical. Lewis does a great job exploring the nature of man.
World War Z by Max Brooks
Not "deep," but a fun read and probably the most plausible interpretation of a worldwide zombie apocalypse I've ever seen. It also explores the idea of how humans handle crisis.

CS Lewis's space trilogy is one of my all time favorites, I cant say enough good things about it! There is a book of his work that was unfinished at his time of death. If I remember right, he was working on a book called "The Dark Tower" and what he did finish is in a book with some other previously unpublished work of his. The Dark Tower is fantastic, but infuriating, since you get totally wrapped up in it, but never get a conclusion or ending.

I may check out the first two.
