You are well within your rights to instantly downvote, but there are also alternative solutions that are more long term. 1) If you wish to no longer see any of my FanFiction posts, please block the tags #Fanfiction or #Biocatarus. By doing so you will never again see any Fanfiction-related works from me in the future. 2) You can also simply mute my profile if that’s prefered, but understand that I will be doing traditional Lore posts later down the line, and this option would hide those as well. As always I thank you for your time, and any feedback is appreciated.
The following is from the journal of the Warlock Apheyra. She has yet to let anyone else, even her Ghost, read it. ************************************************************************************* (Date Unknown, During the Red War.) The Tower is gone, the Traveller has been taken, and I alone am still alive. When the Cabal attacked, I… was with another Warlock. Her name was Olma-5. Know that she was brave, far more so than I. Together we had been studying the untapped potential of Solar Light. All the things she knew! I think the sudden loss of our Light had hurt her far more than it did to me. It was horrific, like a vital part of your very soul is ripped out without warning. It felt similar to forgetting how to breathe, forever. I blacked out, but Olma stayed strong and brought my unconscious self with her. I was dreaming of something important, I know I was, but I can no longer remember what message it was trying to tell. It does not matter. We had almost made it safely out of the City, but in the end I did, and she didn’t. I now know Lightbearers can die, and when it happens, you can feel the dark move in a little closer. I don’t want to talk about it anymore. If you find this, know that I am alone, and I’m scared to meet the end as so many already have. ~ Today I have seen the light return. Not the Traveler’s, for now I fear it’s truly dead, but instead the light found within kindness. I was starved, sick, and near death. My Ghost did his best, but it was obvious that I was going to die. Then he found me, another old friend from my past life, returned like a specter to guide me through the pain. The hulking man spoke very little, and he refused to say his name, yet I still knew who he was. Brendal, returned at last. He carried me back to his cabin, a quiet little place that he had made himself. He set me on his lone bed, and gathered what he could in terms of medicine. It tasted awful, yet he reluctantly explained it was a rare plant that grew exclusively in these lands, a merging between the Light and nature. Brendal also spoke of the Sun, how her rays were similar to the Traveler’s in that they created life from nothing but heat and hope. He knew about the Cabal, their warships flew by from time to time, and he had left to do what he could in the business of saving lives. I was the only one he could find. He asked me if I had seen BC since the city fell, and I told him no. I suspect he’s still in the ruins, if he’s even alive at all… For a moment it felt as if I was the only Guardian left, the last flame in the dwindling light. Brendal always knew what to say. He said that “Even in the deepest of nights, life does not give up her hope, and so she is able to conquer her fears and create something far more beautiful than all that came before her.” That’s why I’m still moving forward, isn’t it? I promised myself to grow beyond my past, Light or not. I have to be brave, must be brave, if I want to save what I care about. Biocatarus is alive, I know he is, and I will find him. ~ It took a few days for my health to return. My Ghost was able speed up the process with what little Light he had left, but that meant he didn’t have enough left to heal my wounds for the foreseeable future. Brendal gave me what supplies he could, which was mostly food and an old scout rifle he had used for hunting. He would have come with me, but he’s not a fighter, not anymore. He wanted to stay in his peaceful existence, and something about the look on his face made me see that he had been through a lot of hardships that I could only imagine. I think he of all people deserves peace the most. The journey back to the City was long, but for the most part uneventful. Any wild beasts of Fallen scavengers were either wiped out by the Cabal, or kept their distance in fear. But I was moving forward, towards the Traveller, towards hope. Continued Below...
