When Bungie can't even prevent a simple thing like AFK people queuing in Crucible/Gambit playlists and can do that for hours on end, it really makes you question whether they have the capability to stop these. How hard is it to detect someone going through several matches with 0 kills, 0 motes banked, 0 damage in fact 0 in every stat that would suggest they are actually playing the game? Then how hard is it for them to stop that person from queuing up for the next round and put up a message that at least checks whether that person is playing or not. How hard is it to ban them from queuing up after a couple matches of 0 stats? Now compare that to how they would verify a paid recovery: 1. They would have to prove that the person using the recovered account details are in fact not the actual account owner. (you could say IP address, but you do have VPNs and other methods to mask the IPs) 2. They would have to be able to differentiate between people going to a friends/family's house and signing into someone else's console and someone using someone else's details for the purposes of a paid recovery 3. If a friend or family was performing the recovery on the owner's console, how does Bungie detect a paid recover there? Or do those not count anymore? 4. they would have to prove that money/payment was exchanged for said service. That's just to verify it's a paid recovery, imagine the work that would go into that, then they would have to develop preventative measures and/or remedial measures that don't falsely punish innocent players.

  • Not gonna lie. The AFk is an issue. You can stay AFK for hours and the game wont kick you. Weird. I inly noticed cuz a player messaged me saying they reported me(was on phone). I was confused. Went to my room and lo and behold im in a new strike....i think it was my 3rd on honestly....whoopps!!!

  • You can't stay AFK in Gambit or Crucible for more than 30 seconds. Not sure why strikes don't have that though.

  • AFK in D2 machine terms is when it doesn't detect user input, (ie keypress/directional stick movement) players get around this by tieing rubberbands to their joysticks, or resting something against it to give the system the user "input" which prevents them from being kicked.

  • A very simple solution would be to force people to manually queue up every time. But I don’t think AFK is really an issue like people make it out to be. I’ve run hundreds of strikes and reset my Gambit 3 times and I’ve never once seen someone running in circles because their sticks are tied. I’ve seen a few people wait until the end of a strike to fight the boss but I rarely ever encounter that either.

  • I’m not saying people don’t do it. I’m just saying it’s not as common as these boards make it out to be. Or I’m just extremely lucky to constantly find upstanding teammates 🤣

  • I've come across it a fair few times, the frequency seems to be increasing. I've commented on a few threads that got shut down by the ninjas where they named and shamed and had proof of people going AFK. So I'd say you've been pretty lucky, or you just didn't notice. In fairness the first time I came across it/detected it was when I was looking through my game history and noticed someone with 0 score and checked them up on Destiny tracker. I didn't actually notice them not doing anything in the Gambit match, but since that happened, I have been paying attention to the blue dots on the radar at the start of the Gambit match and see if all 4 dots are moving in the same direction.
