If the vex could travel through time, we shouldn't exist. No matter what the vex should have won unless the vex are secretly stupid.

I like to think the vex NEED us around in order to accomplish their ultimate plans. Scratch that, it doesn't sound any better.
-
They took saint14s light.
-
That was so that they could defeat him, and it didn’t succeed
-
Saint 14 is no more, the vex told his light.
-
Well yeah he did eventually die and they are experimenting with (maybe draining, idk) the Light of his corpse now
I never found Osiris, but I've killed enough Vex to end a war. And they, in turn, struck a fatal blow: they completed a Mind with the sole function to drain the Light from me. It worked very well.
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/perfect-paradox?highlight=Struck

Aaahhhhh, right, forgot it said that. So it didn’t kill him but it did enough damage for him to die shortly after

We assume the vex are “bad.” Do they have emotional motivations are they all about efficiency and results? We don’t know their real goal. It’s easy to retcon any lore to make the vex’s goal to really be to help humanity. However, maybe the only way is to help us is to push us to fight them as an adversary so we get stronger. They also manipulate our enemies to a path that eventually helps us. Example: the vex “allow” skolas to access their tower BUT the vex never truly give him any real access. The guardians have to fight and get stronger by having to defeat what we think is a true threat. In the end he is captured and the fallen expend resources that result in reducing their power while we guardians get stronger. The vex arranged that to help us.

The Vex are not evil, although from the perspective/opinions of humans one could objectively call them evil. They have no emotional drive, only a purpose to complete. They are no more evil than a computer processing an algorithm, or a plant performing photosynthesis. By definition, evil is morally wrong, but the Vex don’t have morals, and we see from the Hive that what the Vex do can be considered morally right even if someone else sees it as wrong. We see the taking of lives and individuality as evil, even if it leads to the creation of something equal. Yes, the Vex do destroy, but they also create. The Vex definitely have no interest in helping us, and I can say with confidence that we do know their goal. Oryx himself decrypted the Vex propuse as Osiris also did, and they have no interest in the survival of anything but themselves. They helped destroy our Golden Age, have sought to destroy us to reach their Convergence, and have possibly even succeeded in many other occasions if they are capable of time travel. They did not give Skolas access to the Vault or the Citadel; they were unable to stop him, and he ended up using his Servitors to gain direct access and interfere with the flow of time. They have used us and others as tools to destroy threats on many occasions, but never have they acted in interest of saving anyone but themselves. Skolas was a threat to their system just as much as he was a threat to humanity, and that’s why they did not try to stop us from killing him. The Taken were a threat to the Vault, so they gave us motivation to enter and fight the invaders but later did not reward us with the bait they had dangled.

Vex experience emotions!!! During an Adventure on Nessus, Ghost links with the Vex and feels a Hydra’s fear as you kill it. And the Vex are totally nice, lol. They were so helpful to the Ghost in that Adventure
-
I ignore that emotions thing. If anything it’s an approximation of an emotion. Plus, even if they do have emotions they still don’t have any emotional drive And yes they are super friendly. When they charge you their battle cry is the equivalent of yelling “Hi”

You didn’t have to convince me they are not “evil or bad” as my view is the same as yours. The vex are brutally efficient intelligent machines that are goal oriented. They don’t seem to have emotions or desires. Just a purpose. I do think lazy writing could be used to short cut an ending to the vex where Osiris manipulates the vex to “help” humanity as the series ends. That’s what I meant by retcon the lore to fit an ending and say their entire efforts have in some way benefited humanity. Like my skolas example.
