First off, what error messages (if any) are you getting? The most common issue is ports not being forward which is leading to the game traffic not being properly routed to your PS.
If you have access to your router settings, the best thing you can do to help alleviate connection issues is to turn on a setting called Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Essentially, it tells your router to ask the device what ports it wants to forward and takes care of it for you.

Edited by Dirty Dan: 11/15/2018 9:21:21 PMI haven’t gotten an error code, when i press x at the opening screen it gives me a banner saying “Attention! Cannot connect to the Destiny 2 server. Contact bungie at help.bungie.net for more information or dismiss this message to try again.” Looking into the port forwarding thing.

Well alrighty then, that means it can't connect to the server at all as if it doesn't have an internet connection. From here, definitely check port forwarding/UPnP and any sort of firewall/family control settings on the router. Something is blocking the game from seeing the servers altogether. Based on some quick googling, I found that it can also be caused by not having the most up-to-date copy of the game as well as issues with Playstation itself. Are you able to login to the PS forums? As a quick test, try connecting to the game through a mobile hotspot or a different network to rule out an issue with your home network.
