Room 413

-Last City, Guardian quarters, two days after the opening of the Dreaming City- “386, 387, 388, 389, are we even in the right hall?” “I would hope so, I’ve never been to the upper quarters. Don’t you have a map of the tower or something like that in your memory drive?” “Honestly, it would be more useful if I had. We’ve gotten lost in the libraries more than we have been shot at.” “Eos the ghost, always stating what you already know. Honestly you really are the perfect match for a Warlock like me.” Eos: “Hey, what’s wrong? The lady is feeling a little savage today, huh? Well, I’m glad to have you too.” “Ugh, cut it. Let’s find the hunter.” The Awoken and her ghost enter an elevator. Almost dropping her books, the guardian presses a button and they are headed upwards. An awkward silence ensues. Eos: “ Calene?” Calene: “Yes?” Eos: “Are you nervous ?” Calene: “No, of course not. I mean, should I ?” Eos:” Nooo, he’s only the guardian who killed Ghaul, Oryx, Crota, that Wormgod on Mars...” Calene:“Xol. He killed Xol. I know what he has done. Also, stop being sarcastic, I hate that.” Visually stumped, the Warlock begins to shuffle trough one of the books while her ghost giggles behind her back. As the two leave the elevator they enter a small atrium connected to even more halls. E: “This has to be it. If not, you can use me as a book stand for the next two weeks.” Calene smirks and goes for the central hall. She proceeds to tidy her robe and fumble her hair. Eos flies up to her ear and wispers: “Nervous”. She pushes the ghost away and starts checking the room numbers. Ikora had told her the correct number but Calene isn’t sure if she listened correctly. In the moment she was told to meet the legendary hunter, she had other thoughts. A combat mission was the last thing she wanted right now. She never even had a real fireteam before. The red war was her first and last major experience of war. At least she hoped it was. Maybe the hero of the city just needed her smarts. Ikora told her to bring her latest reads on the reef, so the possibility was there. E: „410, 411, 412. Ding ding, we’re there. 413. Of course the vanguard would give him a room with view on the traveler.“ Calene takes a deep breath C: “Eos, for one time in your live...” She faces the ghost. C: “Be respectful.” “Yes your excellence, I will. Go forth, knocketh on hither door.” Eos responds in a overly dramatic voice. C: “Stop.” Calene knocks. Muffled through the door, music can be heard inside the room. She knocks again, just to be sure. A male voice can be heard calling someone. “Scip, open up,” The door parts and Calene and Eos enter. The hunters room resembles a flat more than a simple room. It’s welcoming, but a little messy, as to be expected from someone who rarely stays in the city for longer than a week. The hunter turns down the music and faces his visitors. He checks them out and smiles. “Welcome. Glad you could make it.” He stands up and shakes the Warlocks hand. “Your name is Calene Sue, right? Ikora told me about you. I’m... Eos flies in front of Calene and interrupts their host. E: “Yeah we know, the murderer of gods and hero of the city! Everyone knows you.” C: “Eos, stop!” The hunter chuckles and sits down in a lounge chair. “Well, I guess that’s the case. I’d honestly prefer for people to stop with the whole god slayer thing. I’d actually prefer being called the only human who wins drinking games against a certain exo titan. Seriously, the dude is a literal drinking machine but I beat his record last week. Constantly being called a hero is exhausting... sorry if that sounded arrogant.” Eos and the hunter start laughing. He gestures for Calene, who has only awkwardly smiled the entire time, to sit down. She takes the offer, gets comfortable, adjusts her hair and thinks of things to say. Eos beats her to the punch. E: “What’s that music? Is that...german?” “Well yeah, it’s a golden age song. It’s called Wel...” “It’s called Welt der Wunder.” A ghost appears next to the hunter. “I’m Scipio. He uses me as a radio the entire time, so I basically know every one of his songs. Great to meet you.” The ghost nudges his guardian and flies to another room. The hunter chuckles. C: “You speak golden-age german? Why?” “I don’t know. Master Rahool once asked me about it and it suddenly hit me. Anyway, it’s a song about the wonders of earth and how small humans are in the universe. It honestly gives a great look into early-golden-age live. If they had only known what they were about to archive in the next hundred years.” Scipio: “Stop pretending to be philosophical and tell them about the matter at hand.” Eos turns to her guardian and stares at her. Calene knows exactly what she wants to say: See, other ghosts tease their guardians too, why can’t I do it? The Warlock ignores her and returns to the conversation. C: “Please do, I was actually wondering what I could even help you with.” The human turns off the music and leans in. “There’s a certain place that I’m going to, and I need you to go with me.”
So, I just wanted to introduce my new Warlock and my Hunter into my little head canon thingy. Unless I have more ideas for stories and this gets at least a little praise, this will be the last one from me. Maybe. Don’t know. Hope you liked it. (Expect a timezone-adjustment-bump)
