Remember when The Taken King made all gear from D1, Dark Below and House of Wolves useless because they didn't gain infusion? It seemed like with Age of Triumph that Bungie realized that leaving gear and content behind is a mistake, when they brought y1 raids up to 390 and reprinted y1 loot with infusion.
It's obvious now that they didn't learn, and have done it again. Y1 armor can accept new mods, but doesn't have any armor perks, so there's no point in spending the arm-and-leg to infuse them up to y2 levels. And y1 weapons have the opposite problem: not having random rolls is ok because the static rolls on a lot of y1 weapons are actually pretty good even by y2 standards, but they can't accept the new mods.
I'm sure rewriting y1 armor to create random roll sets is harder than it sounds, I'll give the benefit of the doubt to Bungie since I don't know how to code. But we already had modding abilities on weapons during y1, if y1 armor can have old mods replaced with new mods, why can't weapons?
RIP Hollow Earth, I'm gunna miss you buddy.

Yeeeah no. Braytech Winter Wolf and several other guns would like to have a word with you.

Especially saying all the end game Forsaken armor is pretty disappointing.. I mean I would way rather use the Y1 raid armor or the EP armor than the new Forsaken armor.. The Last Wish Raid armor is extremely lackluster, especially for an Ahamkara Raid, its a complete missed opportunity.. The weapons look great but the armor is a Reskin of the Dreaming Cty sets which are reskins of Blue Armor sets.. This DLC has no real solid end game armor to grind for, so making all the Y1 armor obsolete isnt very smart.. Plus they need to bring back Strike specific loot and Nightfall/Strike specific armor like the Titan Darkblade Helm and the Hunters Mongrel Ogre Grasps.. We need more Hive or other enemy themed armor and weapons.. I mean look how well received the new Nightfall Hive shotgun is..

Maybe they could’ve just not taken away the mods we already earned. Would that have been so difficult?

Huh? A lot of y1 weapons have rolls that are superior to new guns. I can still use old armor too. First week of taken king, I couldn't carry my fbringer and black hammer along with my crota set into kings fall. Definitely NOT the same as d1 y1-y2 transition.

I’m pretty sure you can infuse year 1 year this time around #restinpeaceBlackHammer

Edited by Forest: 9/18/2018 6:11:36 PMAnother fact is Y1 weapons don't have the far superior Y2 weapons master works. Example Y2 sidearms can get +10 stability Y1 can only get +5. Y1 rifles only get +5 range Y2 rifles get +10 range. Not even counting in that Y2 weapons can get +10 IMPACT you know the stat that determines damage of a weapon. So that on top of the amazing weapon mods we have now such as ext magazine. So get a magazine master work plus mode you can give a 3 shot sniper like 5 or 6 shots now or a AR with a 35 round mag to like 50. You see the problem ? I love using Enigma's Draw cause it got high cal and zen moment but the new Translation Theory Anonymous Autumn (many already saying best sidearm in the game) can get zen moment and high cal too ALONG with a second trait and a weapon mod and the far better Y2 weapon masterworks. Like Y1 weapons don't need random rolls but the NEED Y2 weapon masterworks and their mod sockets back.

You'll be surprised how much Bungie left behind after making the best update they had ever made in Age of Triumph if you go back and look. Destiny 1's last big update is possibly still their best work.

Only if you choose not to use it. My d.f.a and ikelos shotgun haven't left my side and the new armour look nice.

it is worse than that. Working in a games company, i realize that theres a lot of overhead when you need to introduce additional assets (and they would have to be considered new assets, in order to separate them from people who dont have forsaken expansion. Unless they would have an intelligent system in place to allow for one set of rolls for a non-Forsaken person, and a different set for the other.). BUT the biggest issue i see, is that they once again, rendered all that work that artists and engineers and cloth-sim guys did on the Y1 items, useless. instead of being smart, keeping the variety, and enabling us to use more than a few new sets of armor. Y1 armor is essentially equal to blues now. Again - a) some of the blues looks way better than the purples in Forsaken especially (obviously, subjective opinion, but seriously, what is the deal with Bungie thinking, that we want to wear the armor of our enemies, or cosplay them? I *just* killed them. doesnt that say i dont really fancy them that much? ^^), and b) the variety right now is really low. But I guess this goes along with how they won't introduce transmog, albeit being the clear logical choice. Partnering up with Blizzard, I would assume they would learn something from them, but that is not the case, painfully obvious now :/
