Sticking together and team shooting b/c the ttk is long and our weapons are weak is team play? Destiny isn't an arena shooter and it was a mistake to strip it of what people loved about it.

Now it's stick together and team shoot cause it's far easier to do that then go fight alone. The majority of the time I try to play my own way, there's 2 people at least shooting at me. That's basically a trade or a death with no kill. It's not fun, it's bad.

It looks like you're still very much fossilized I to the D1 concept and blinded to what D2 really tried to do. I perfectly know what kind of PvP D1 had but what they tried to do with D2 is 2 important things at once: - make it more accessible to more players (lower ttk) - enforce you to think and act as a team. Being smarter than the other team. Flanking, distribute loadouts differently so that the team can adapt to any opponent. Now in a team-based PvP mode u should be able to see the importance of the 2nd point. And there's absolutely nothing wrong in point no.1 Sadly the majority of u guys don't understand that and are hiding behind the fact that "teamshooting is bad because I can no longer do whatever the -blam!- I want solo, ignoring my teammates". This is so -blam!- really. If you are going around solo in any team based game (in general, not even video games) you are playing it the wrong way. They gave you team mates for a reason which is far more important than checking your k/d against their at the end.

Bud you nailed it. If I were truly honest, it’s not the changes to the game I dislike, but I truly dislike lazy thinking typical all about me, instant gratification born with a cellphone in hand, got a trophy for breathing millennials who have really sucked the life out of games nowadays.

^ This ^ Team shooting was never a fun meta, and that's been the meta the past year. The fun part about D1 crucible was being able to take on two players and kill them by outplaying them or outsmarting them, and in Year 1 D2, it's either hope they are brainless, run away to cover, or you get teamshot.
-
That’s the thing D1 isn’t D2 hate when you idiots mention D1 smh
-
It's still Destiny. D2 completely altered how crucible worked, it was barely the same and very different. The metas that ensued were always primarily 'teamshot' metas. If you were buddied up, then you'd kill anyone before they even scratch you. It wasn't ever fun to get outgunned by 2+ people and not have anything to do about it. At least you can now, it's purely skill based now. You now have to pick and choose your fights carefully rather than just grouping up and charging in brainlessly.
-
100% disagree it was totally possible in D2 I did it many times, even 3 guardians but guess what...you need your team to outsmart the other team!!! And you can no longer do it like this with the new Crucible! Now everyone is on their own
-
Exactly, you need to teamshot the other team to have chance at winning. That's my point. This isn't a team-based shooter like Overwatch. You're not supposed to rely on your team heavily. If you have a weak-link you can still pull your own weight and win matches now. Before if one team got one brainless idiot their chances of winning decreased big time. That's NOT how Destiny PvP should be.
-
This isn't a team-based shooter like Overwatch. You're not supposed to rely on your team heavily
Dude wake the -blam!- up!!! ALL the Crucible playlists in D1 & D2 with the exception of Rumble are team-based. It's since Y1 Destiny1 that Lord Shaxx says "Stick together team!" at the beginning of a match.
-
Yeah, you have a team. Doesn't make it a team-based shooter like Overwatch. There's no mode that promotes heavy coordination and kills are primarily the #1 objective in every single match. There's no capture points, payloads, flags, bases, etc... The PvP in Destiny has always been extremely similar to CoD-like games. Fast TTK, no key objectives, kills are the primary scoring system, and teamwork isn't necessary for match wins. Of course some modes require teamwork, like Trials of the Nine, but that isn't the core PvP mode. Clash/Control have been since D1. Kills are what win matches, not teamwork, objectives, etc...
-
In your opinion... Point is Bungie needs to pick a road... 1. Twitch based chicken with your head cut off Or 2. Team tactics
-
No. They need to leave it at: 1: The ability to do well regardless on if you're using teamshotting or solo-queuing. This is quickplay and a shoddy competitive playlist. Not an Esport or Trials.
-
You can’t design the game to fit both, especially with the very unreliable P2P server set up.
-
Yeah you can. They have. You're no longer solely reliant on primary weapons with slow TTK for the entirety of a match. Now you have access to Shotties, Snipers, powered up Traces, and Fusions. All of them have extremely fast TTK and the buffs to the rest of the weapon cast increasing their TTK makes it a much more fast-paced game that is very solo and group friendly.
-
Where did you read what Destiny is “supposed “ to be or not? Truly curious.
-
Has it ever been advertised as a team-based PvP shooter? ... ... No. That's because it's not. There aren't objectives you must capture to win, the scoring is completely based on your kills, even in Control, which is the closest thing to it. Trials is a different thing, the gamemode there IS a team-based PvP experience. The rest are very similar to standard Halo/CoD PvP. You just aim for kills, plain and simple.

Edited by LeVante: 9/1/2018 12:48:58 AMWTF are you talking about it has ALWAYS been team based!! Are you even playing Destiny? Don't you remember the Bungie Destiny 2 world wide presentation when they said "Destiny gives its best when it's played with a team of friends together"
-
Edited by FluffyMonkeyyy: 9/1/2018 5:39:48 AMPvP wise no it hasn't, except for Trials, Rift and maybe Zone Control. In all the other objective game modes kills are a priority and the obj. is there to make the match go faster. Destiny doesn't have any proper team based game modes like Assault, One Bomb, Capture the Flag, or Oddball. To respond to your original response, I know what they were trying to go for as well and it just about killed the game. Their mistake was making it more accessible b/c we got severely neutered subclasses and weapons/armor (due to fixed perks). We were given less choice/options instead of more. Their push to be an e-sport blew up in their face b/c the game ultimately became boring by everyone running the same couple of weapons, team shooting due to a low ttk, and slow movement/ability charge rate. Destiny isn't Halo or Overwatch and should have never tried to be like them. People watched Destiny PvP to see people make crazy plays, go on kill sprees and try to win by being a more skilled player than your opponents. Also, you can't force people to play as a team in quickplay. In what FPS that is not developed as a team based game from the get-go like Overwatch/R6 Siege do people actually stick together. People will go off and do their own thing.

You clearly haven’t played any competitive modes.
