Gauntlet is usually the exhausting encounter where most players tend to quit in my experience. Its a long encounter and 1 mistake is usually enough to wipe it for everyone. To add a newbie into the mix just further drags out the encounter, no offense.
The sad reality is that people are impatient and are unwilling to be the "sherpa" type of role. Theres a few cool patient players out there. But most of the time, its just exhausting spending 3+ hours trying to teach a newbie.

Yeah, pretty much. A guy willing to guide you through a mountain trail and carry most of your weight. Thats a Sherpa. Though the term "Sherpa" is more related to those guys who hard carry people through dangerous trails like Mount Everest for alot of money. We just happen to coin that term for raid gaming purposes.
