Got stranded on a planet with super-heated steam storms......
....that came every two minutes.

They changed the game the always start you out on a hazardous planet it seems. It's less because Hello Game's wants to torture you and more that they wanted to include surviving the elements to be a part of the learning experience for new players. As a tip, always be on the lookout for sodium. Shields are powered by it and can be charged again quickly by pressing up on the dpad twice and pressing x/a in a pinch. That or look for a cave to take cover. You also no longer start next to your ship. They want you to make a scanner for your multi-tool to be able to search for it. Your ship is usually not way too far away and once you find it, you can use it for protection.

Figured out the scanner part and ship repair. The problem was that I ran out of di-hydrogen...and couldn't make any more ship fuel to launch the ship.... ...and some a*****e put a trading post on a planet where it "rains" super-heated steam five out of every 10 minutes. So you couldn't buy the di-hydrogen or ship fuel at the trading post....and you couldn't venture far enough away from your ship to look for it without getting poached.
