I thought I had read that Glory ranking would be used for match making, not Light-score. This makes much more sense because resulting players matching would be based on current win/loss ratios. Glory ranking is a much more accurate representation of PVP prowess as opposed to light score which is more PVE-oriented. Character Level + Light score advantages are normalized / disabled in PVP as well.

  • Hey Lord, Yes, you are correct: glory ranking will be used for matchmaking. And I agree that it makes a ton of sense and is way more fair. I'm with you on that. :) However, I wasn't talking about matchmaking. Bungie announced that for the September update, power level will start to matter in Iron Banner and Trials - which doesn't right now. What this means is that if you go against a guardian that's 385 level and you're 360, he'll have an immediate advantage over you, regardless of PVP skill level. This goes for the guns as well. If you have a Graviton Lance at 370 and are fighting a guardian with a Graviton Lance at 385, he'll have an advantage over you, regardless of skill level. This approach to PVPing (power level mattering) might be problematic for the reasons I mentioned in the first post I wrote. This is why I posted here in the first place. Hope what I said makes more sense now. Thanks a bunch for your comment and for reading.
