Bungie tried with Destiny 2 easy loot and game until Warmind was utter garbage. Literally nothing to do if you can buy that carrot on the stick.
So no, Bungie should do leveling even harder and longer with almost impossible gear to obtain.There must be a reason to play other than piff paff 15 min before sleep.

Hell yea! If you can never get the gear you can play forever! There’s a middle ground between handing out loot and grinding endlessly. You should play for fun and the grind should be enjoyable.
