Most Gunslingers die in their Super due to lack of player skill and awareness. It needs 0 buffs outside of PvE, and that's only accounting for 6-shooter. And maybe even fixing the exploit that allows it to 1-hit body other Supers in PvP, though it'd make the select few who choose to do so(especially if they've remade a character for it) very angry. But that was never intended in the first place. This is coming from someone who mains Hunter.

  • Disagree. From someone who mains a Warlock. In D1, GG was a OHK to the body against any Guardian or any super other than a Striker Titan running Unstoppable and in the activation animation to use Fist of Havoc. But—like so many other things—-GG got nerfed trying to “balance” pvp..., and that nerf did more to break the subclass than anything else. Gunslinger is basically useless in pve. Especially the six-shot version of the super. The aim-assist is almost non-existent, and time is so short that you can never get off all six without rushing your shots. In pvp the super is frustrating and unreliable. Between issues of damage drop off, and damage resistance of other supers that never were an issue in D1. There’s a reason why Gunslinger is badly under-utilized in all parts of the game.

There’s a reason why Gunslinger is badly under-utilized in all parts of the game.
Okay, sure, it was a 1-hit to the body, hell even the pinky toe on anyone, at least after Deadeye was buffed for extra damage, even though it was already used because it gave more aim assist and a larger hitbox. Beforehand, Unstoppable Fist of Havoc, Radiant Skin Sunsingers, Ramlocks in Super, Skull Nova Bomb, pre-nerf Sunbreakers, and any Super with an Overshield from a Bubble besides Goldie could all eat 1 shot from Golden Gun at full health. After Deadeye's buff to 3x damage, it 1-shotted every Super no matter what, besides Bubble, and Supers inside of an AoL Bubble. Golden Gun had severe damage dropoff in D1, which could be eliminated by using Over the Horizon, or essentially mitigated through Deadeye. Which again, is the main perk people used. If neither were used, you couldn't cross-map a Super, or even a nornal Guardian in more extreme scenarios. In D2, that damage dropoff seemingly doesn't exist, at least with 6-shooter. The lowest I have ever cross-mapped a non-Supered opponent in PvP is 274. It does 275 upclose. Golden Gun's neutral game has literally always been extremely average in PvE. The Super was the only reason to use it, whether it was Nighthawk for boss DPS or Aclyophage for certain things like Oracles. Deadeye's aim assist is definitely noticeable, just not useful at all in PvE unless you've got spotty aim on A.I. targets. I can tell immediately, it's much easier to quickly lock-on and then stay locked-on to a target with Deadeye in both PvP and PvE, and I don't feel rushed at all getting off all 6 in 8 seconds, because you can fire 2 or 3 per second. So I can just use it as a semi-auto Last Word and 2-tap any Super(including Slowva Bomb) and Barricade in my line of sight, break a Bubble from across the map and kill 3 people instantly, or even wipe an entire team with no worry about them getting out of an explosive radius or the melee not registering correctly. Maybe it's your age. I'm sorry, not meant to offend, but it's fact that it factors in. I don't know the exact number but could swear you've stated you were an older fellow in some random forum post I'm remembering. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Sharpshooter has great utility in PvE even without Nighthawk because of how fast you can charge your Super when hitting constant crits, though that could use a change so it doesn't just pair best with Auto Rifles/Coldheart. And you make the most orbs out of any Super in the game, making 6 on 3 headshots, and 8 if they're all kills, so you're essentially a self-sustaining orb factory for your team without requiring an Exotic the way Nightstalker needs Rigs. Only issue is whether you need that many Supers, especially since Masterworks came out. Though combined with the Super cooldown reduction from 7 minutes to 5 minutes and 30 or 40 seconds, that makes the whole "self-sustaining" part even easier than before And in PvP, I actually get rewarded for good, precise aim by 1-shotting Supers instantly and making more orbs for my team to run Super train to snowball teams. Just requires the user to aim better, hence the name of the skilltree. And unlike D1, I can't just mindlessly play on a crackheaded sensitivity to turn around and shoot a Bladedancer behind me in the toe. Golden Gun still beats every Super in the game, just requires more effort now. Others will outlast you, but they have to give up positioning. Imagine you're last-man standing in Countdown or Survival. Whether you're on offense and the bomb's about to defuse, or the cap point spawns in Survival, if you pop Goldie, that's an instant round win if you're in the zone or can at least see the bomb. The only time it's not is if you messed up or the enemies literally used all their resources to kill you, being nades and Supers. And if there's a round after that, your team is guaranteed to win because you'll have more Supers before them. But if you'd like, you could forego the final upgrade node on one of your skilltrees and 1-shot bodyshot Supers again, but with a very short timer. Though this'll most likely get patched as it causes an issue with not wanting to upgrade the final node on most likely Sharpshooter, creating a problem for Golden Gun's DPS in PvE. Golden Gun isn't under-utilized at all, just not the best for every encounter, like how you should never use Arc Staff on Argos, and maybe when Blackout is the modifier in Strikes. It serves its purpose well when needed. It's still the best way to kill Argos, and would still be the best for all bosses had the EP shotty not been invented, and Lunafaction not received the (roughly)2.1x range multiplier on Empowering Rift. Though it may get outclassed in Strikes by things like D.A.R.C.I. and Sleeper when Heavyweight and their respective elemental Singe is active.

    1. It’s not my age. I was an elite athlete in my youth and still have well-above average hand -eye coordination. I’m also a drummer and a single-digit handicap golfer. At age 50, I’m quicker and better coordinated than most people in their teens and twenties. Fact. Now that we’ve dealt with that bit of non-sense..... 2. Bungie simply broke the subclass. Period. In typical fashion, in a reckless pursuit of balance the grossly over-corrected the things that pvp players found annoying or frustrating about the class. Like SayNoToRage likes to say, “Bungie wanted us to play with the blocks. But instead of making the blocks better, they broke the Trains instead.” None of the changes they made to Gunslinger from D1 were necessary or warranted. So you basically have a subclass that is arguably underpowered in pvp, and practically a liability in most pve situations if there isn’t solar burn active.

Glad you cleared up the whole age comment. That's impressive if that's true(sorry, this is the internet, for all you know I'm a 70 year old virgin in a homeless shelter or a prison innmate who did some deeds and got Destiny to play), though my generation isn't exactly the perfect picture of health, at least in America. It's gotten worse over the years, unfortunately. I'm not saying that nothing has been nerfed, it's clear as day to see. Everything's been toned down in some kind of way. But nothing's been completely gutted or made unusable, besides stickies really, though Flux Nades have a purpose in triggering Riskrunner. I'll definitely say other subclasses are much easier to use than Golden Gun in PvP like Arcstrider. But Golden Gun is the most rewarding for the most effort is how I see it. Again, I don't see any real difference to Golden Gun aside from the lack of Combustion. All that's lost there is potential crowd control and orb genearion, though the Line 'Em Up perk takes care of the latter. Gunslinger's Trance was not an integral part of the class, despite the name. But it would be great to see it come back in some way, whether through pairing it with Chains of Woe or a reworked Practice Makes Perfect. Scavenger was mainly for PvP, because of how fast your nades and knives could come back. I'd often throw a Tripmine at a wall or doorway right before picking up any ammo if I had one charged already to take full advantage of it. Circle of Life was used by no one, though it actually gave you 2x Super energy per Knife headshot kill. We still have Knife Juggler, and Burning Knife has been replaced by Explosive Knife which is better for small ad control, and can delay regen around corners or even finish off if weak enough. Also does great damage to enemy shields in PvE. Deadeye is still here the way it was initially given as, and giving it even a 2x damage buff would make 6-shooter completely uncontestable besides hoping you can make them miss up close when they essentially have a Weapons of Light, Rampage x3, Kill Clip Year 1 Last Word with literally infinite range and stability. And aside from the orb generaion and Knife Juggler for PvP, Sharpshooter would be completely useless then. And Double Knives is gone, but back in the form of Ophidia Spathe but better, since it will always give you 2 knives back regardless of whether it came from Gambler's Dodge, Knife Juggler, or just normal cooldowns. Though it serves a better purpose in PvP. Young Ahamkara's Spine no longer gives 2 nades, though they didn't initially. But now give you and your team wallhacks on anyone damaged by your Tripmine. Which has great strength when there's no radar, esepecially in Countdown. Before the Invis reversion back to D1's, my teammate once tagged 2 Nightstalkers with a Tripmine. They both used Vanishing Step, but the lack of aim assist didn't matter and he Goldied both of them. That caused me to start using them, and they're all I wear in Comp./Trials on my Hunter. Aclyophage is no more, though we have 6-shooter built in. Maybe it'll come back with a different perk, or have the same perk and actually cause it to outclass Nighthawk when using Sharpshooter and hitting all crits. ATS/Arachnid was completely useless besides in Combined Arms before the buff it got that increased the duration of the Super, and still most likely the least used Exotic armor in the game. And allowing Golden Gun to hit crits was something many people thought would've been a great idea to really help it do well against bosses. Until Nighthawk was made of course. Speaking of Nightawk, the damage it does now with Sharpshooter is on par with what it did in D1, and it's functionality hasn't changed at all except from the Year 1 version which still had Nighthawk's original perk from when it was called something along the lines of "Angel Hunter". I think that about covers D1 Golden Gun vs. D2 Golden Gun. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for some buffs to make Goldie's neutral game more pronounced in PvE, like giving Throwing Knives an actual utility, and maybe some perks that buff guns more than just Chains of Woe. But I don't want the Super touched at all, unless it's just buffed majorly in PvE, and slightly in PvP. Like giving 6-shooter Full Auto so that a trigger finger isn't necessarry, and/or a sizeable damage bump in PvE, though more Supers than just Goldie, mainly Storm and Sentinel, are in more dire need of that. The last thing I want is a Golden Gun that lasts as long as Trandscendence Storm 1-shotting people when grazing their earlobe. Next it'll just 1-shot Bubbles and overpenetrate them, killing anyone inside too. Then we won't even need to grab any Empowering Skulls to damage Calus or actually need to stand on plates to DPS, one Nighthawk will kill him if you use it to shoot his chalice. Power Creep is a thing. And Solar Singe is completely unnecessary for Goldie in Strikes. Again, Golden Gun in and of itself has never had great neutal game perks in PvE compared to other subclasses. The Super is still amazing for quick boss DPS, just like how everything was for it in D1.

  • Dude even if we dont die we cant find someone in 8 sec. But other class have at least 12 or maybe more time to use it. Is that fair? When gunslinger use super he cant 1 shot other supers but other supers still 1 shot him so is that normal?even 2 guy can kill gunslinger before he activite golden gun. I love gunslinger but he is the worst subclass right now.

I'm sorry, but it seems to me you just have no clue how to use the Super if you're popping it in front of muiltiple people in the open to shoot you in the animation for activating it. Or can't hit a headshot using Sharpshooter, because that will 1-shot any Super, create more orbs, and give you more time for each headshot hit; or can't quickly 2-tap Supers to the body when using 6-Shooter, even though it's essentially an extremely high-impact Last Word with infinite range, stability, and a giant hitbox due to Deadeye. I believe this is a case of you failing the Super, and not the other way around. Before the extra time for 6-shooter I could understand, but now, I don't see a problem. That's 8 seconds I can instantly 1-shot you from any distance with 0 delay or chance of missing, unless my aim was poor. You can't dodge a Golden Gun shot. You can dodge or be out of the range/radius for every other Super in the game.

  • So you say golden gun time is ok and there is no need for damage reduction. Okey then make it happen for all subclass then we see if you guys okey with that. 8 sec and no damage reduction for all subclass. I just want to see you guys reaction after that.

What do you mean "you guys"? I main Golden Gun in PvP. And that makes 0 sense for other Supers because their bars drain from Super usage, decreasing the time they have the more they use it, unless they use a perk/Exotic that replenishes or slows down the drain the Super, like Trample on Striker or Raiden Flux on Arc Staff. Golden Gun only runs out when the time runs out, or when all the shots are used. It doesn't drain the time just from using the Super. If it did you might have an argument. But it doesn't, nor does it work like any other Super. A Sunbreaker can cross-map you with a Hammer, but the Hammer has long travel time and an obvious arc to it that can be avoided easily. And now they have less Super bar, meaning less time left in Super, meaning less Hammers they can throw with each passing second. Nor does not having damage reduction on a Super like Arc Staff or Sentinel make sense, they have to get close or chase you down to kill you. Whereas Golden Gun is the simplest thing in the world: Point ----> Click ---> Dead. No matter where they are on your screen, they just have to be on your screen. That just sounds like a childish tantrum. "Oh yeah!? Well let's see how you guys like it then! Hmph!"

  • Its not like that my english is bad thats why. So you are gunslinger and dont give a -blam!- about time or damage reduction. When you use your super any other super can kill you easy which is my problem because you cant kill them with 1 shot. Yea i know sharpshooter can 1 shot if you aim for head but its only 3 bullet and its very slow. If you use it when nobody see you they can hear it and hide so good luck with 8 sec. Yea i know other class have more time but when they use it time getting low.lets be honest you problary never use 6 bullet correct before time pass. So i am okey with if they give us 15 sec but every bullets take 2 sec or 2.5 sec. (Sorry for bad english)

(Sorry for bad english)
You're right, I don't care about the time or damage reduction, as it's been the same since Destiny 1. The only difference is that you don't easily 1-bang Supers to the toe anymore. You're right, I rarely if ever get to use all 6 bullets in PvP, because it's 4v4, and I normally use my Super to counter other Supers or contest a zone or Power ammo. But I can get an easy, slightly spaced out 4-man wipe, especially in Iron Banner 6v6, more often than not. The only other times I'm left with 0 shots instead of 1 or 2 is to counter Titan barricades, which require 2 shots from both skilltrees to get rid of. Especially if there's more than 1. And if I missed a shot, or killing people off spawn through their overshields. And sorry if you feel offended by me due to English not being your first laguage. I have no way to tell, I could assume, but then I'd be making an "ass out of you and me" as we like to say. And no one wants that. But Goldie isn't a bad Super by any means. Just watch some videos I'm leaving below from a content creator on how it's supposed to be used. Unless you're on PC, you probably won't hit any crazy flick shots as seen. But they probably have the best Golden Gun clips of D2. https://youtu.be/HpYDCoWAnZY https://youtu.be/6I2IdSQrwvo Now I could even include some clips of my own as just an above-average console player, but that'd take some time to sort through my archives of 30 second clips and screenshots. Only if you'd like.
