Note: Words spoken in the Eliksni language are italicized Table of Contents https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/229522482/0/0 Lights spring to life within the crackling clouds above the heads of Huss and the Eliksni, casting bright beams that flash across the camera view. The display shakes as Huss stumbles back and watches the frames of a dozen Vex Goblins materialize, suspended in the air like puppets. The newly arrived Vex drop, hitting the pavement with heavy metallic thunks. One lands directly in front of Huss. Sleek machinery whirs as it rotates its disklike crown, focusing the emotionless red glow of its eye on the Captain. In one flawless movement, the Goblin lowers its arm and levels the barrel of a Slap Rifle at Huss. With a shocked jolt, Huss hurries to raise his own weapon, but the Goblin releases a distressed whine as it rises back up into the air. Huss gapes as Grayliks hefts the automata, roaring as he ferociously tears apart its joints and rips its arms from its sockets. The Baron throws the machine to the ground, smashing the fluid container in its stomach with a mighty stomp. "To safety!" Grayliks commands, shoving Huss back and lunging at the next Goblin. Energy bolts spray in every direction, darting in front of Huss in flashes of color, and the room darkens as another wave of Vex begins to appear. Huss catches a glimpse of Grayliks crushing the eye of a Goblin while thrusting his Shrapnel Launcher into its chest, but is abruptly yanked around to face two of the Vandals from before. "Come now!" One hisses, pulling sharply on his arm. He follows them, weaving their way to the edge of the library. A beam of solar energy punches through the first Vandal's head, and it bursts with a rush of ether. The second Vandal knocks the crumpling carcass aside, dedicated to pushing its way out of the mayhem. Huss looks to his left and fires a volley of bullets at the back of a Goblin. The machine's head bursts and a fountain of sparks spouts from the stem of its neck, but it doesn't fall and instead turns to chase the Captain. A Vandal tackles the Goblin from the side, cutting into the metal with shock blades, and Huss returns his attention to where he's going. Ducking to avoid a Shank soaring by, Huss watches a Goblin lift its hand and emit an explosive pulse that sends a Dreg tumbling past him. Another Dreg attacks the Goblin, cutting open its fluid container, and the Vex crumples into a heap. The view quakes as Huss trips over something. He regains his balance, not looking back, and dives behind a column. The Vandal slides next to him, scattering books that had fallen from the shelf in front of them. Huss peeks out from behind the pillar, seeing yet another assortment of Vex arrive. "No one told me they could teleport!" He exclaims, looking away and putting his back to the column, "Traveler-forsaken tin cans!" He pulls his gun up to his chest and looks the other way. A Dreg is dragging a wounded Dreg behind the next pillar, laying it out of harm's way, and is joined by a Vandal. Huss looks to his companion and speaks loudly over the clamor, "I think we should-" The screen erupts in a purple detonation. When the aftermath clears, the display shows a sideways shot of the ground, indicating that Huss is on his side. His arm is resting limply in front of him, covered by scorched books. "Huss!" Avery exclaims, turning on the microphone and speaking into it, "Huss! Get up!" He tilts his head back to see the Dreg and Vandal at the other column shooting past him. Something hauls him away, and he pushes himself up slightly. The leg of the Vandal that had been with him comes into sight, and it pulls him to an upright position, shaking him and putting his rifle in his hands. It draws its shock blades and moves away. Huss grips his rifle and mumbles, "I'm alright, Commander. I'll walk it off." The view rocks back, and I assume he's leaning on the column. He looks over his shoulder and sees that the House of Winter has taken control of over half the room. They're staying in cover, exchanging rounds with the remaining Vex, which are out of sight and firing from the elevated end of the library. Dead Eliksni and the pieces of destroyed Vex litter the floor. "Alright," Huss groans, holding his weapon at the ready. He peers around his cover, seeing only half a dozen Vex at the exit. He picks a Hobgoblin and shoots at it. The Hobgoblin turns to him, charging its weapon, but a bolt from a wire rifle bursts its stomach and it collapses. "Anyone care to explain the juice boxes?" Huss requests, aiming at the next target. Noel puts his hand over his mouth to cover a grin and quietly snickers, "Juice boxes?" "It's radiolaria fluid," Avery explains, "Shoot it, they die." "The Vex are goo?!" Huss exclaims, then snaps his head back when a bolt barely misses his face and cries out, "Light!" Noel fights back a laugh and Avery leans over to scowl at him and scolds, "Not the time, Lanson." "Sorry," Noel giggles, putting his palms up defensively, "But can't we do anything without someone saying something stupid?" Avery glares at him until he lowers his hands and sheepishly apologizes, "Sorry." We refocus on the screen and watch the last of the Vex fall to the Eliksni. None of them relax, shifting tensely and scanning the library in anticipation of more Vex. After a full minute passes with no new ingressions, Grayliks announces, "It is done."
