Fist Full of Sunlight
Act III Part 1 Archive: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/242853482/0/0
Maneuver Progress: Complete Orbital Status: Geostationary [Locked] Control Systems: Nominal Power Supply: Nominal The Onyx Guard types away at his terminal, finalizing the sinc with the target designator plugged into its side. Bee and Patterson stand a few feet away by the topographic map spread across their rickety folding table. They review they're travel route in and out of the Cabal fortress, as well as the details of the approach, drop off and pick up locations, and emergency escape routes should the plan go south. Ideally, they're aiming for the most direct route with the most cover. Lee makes minor adjustments to his welds, fitting the two pikes with some additional armor as a means of protecting the two going in as well as the passenger they plan to bring out. A cigarette balanced between two fingers of the he uses to hold the plate, as the other traces the contact area with his blowtorch. Can't afford to weight the pikes down, so he's opting to position the plates to direct fire around the pilot and passenger. Targeting Systems: Nominal Target Designation: Manual [Locked] --Establishing Secure Connect-- The Onyx Guard reaches down to the side of the terminal to again check that the hand-held target designator is being powered up. Their plan is to divide up the team into three separate functions: Lee will take up his previous scouting point on a nearby ridge. It's slightly off to the side of the main gate, offering him an angle to take out anything that tries to jump on a turret to the gate's right side, while also offering him a chance to intercept any forces that attempt to climb up to the turrets on the left. He's to maintain as clear through the main gate as possible. The Onyx Guard will be near a rock formation to the left flank of the entrance, just out of sight of the Cabal sniper team. He plans to create a diversion by inflicting substantial amounts of damage to the land tank outside of the fortress, then use his satellite weapon to cut off enemy forces from reentering the fortress via the main gate. Bee and Patterson will be functioning as the extraction team. They will ride the pikes into fortress, locate the Exo via the anomalous readings given off by her and the Gear, then use the pikes to make an exit. Bee will pick up the Onyx Guard, then rendezvous with Patterson, Lee, and the Exo for safe extraction to their dropship. If this is not possible, Patterson and Lee will use the dropship to fly in under the Cabal's radar and pick up Bee and the Gear for an exit. Uplink Status: Secure User Authorization: Confirmed Defensive Systems: Online Primary Weapon System: Charging… Lee pulls away from his work, lifting his goggles and taking a long drag of the cigarette. “The instant they see us, they'll try to turn us all into craters,” the façade of his clam tone betrayed by a shaking hand clutching his blowtorch. “These guys, the Cabal, they don't hesitate to use overkill on anything that so much looks at ‘em funny. You sure your satellite can bring down an Imperial Land Tank?” "It can do more than that," the Onyx Guard replies as he disconnects the designator from the terminal and walks over to join the other two. "An array can take out cities, but one will be more than enough burn whatever I want it to." Bee glances over at Lee, picking up her shotgun from beside the table and connecting it to the magnetic stow on her back. "Think me and Pat have got our route down. Just don't forget to let little Jackson help designate targets for you; need you to be ready jump when we come out." Lee turns down the flame of his blowtorch, letting it slowly sputter and fade away. "Pikes are as beefed up as I can get 'em. You two actually have a plan once you're in there?" "You mean aside from get to Tower's Stranger?" Patterson inquires. "Once were in there, we'll try to maintain a low profile so the two of you can draw as many as you can outside. Plan on just letting Bee do her thing when we make an exit." The Onyx Guard laughs a bit at this response. "You have a thing?" Bee smiles and lifts her head up proudly. "I'm a striker," she says as she balls her hands into fists to pop her knuckles. The Onyx Guard stares silently, a look of confusion on his face. She sighs and slumps her shoulders. "You'll see." "Alright," Patterson cuts in, "we don't know what's waiting for us in there, Lee's been out if whisky for almost a week now, and we're pulling a rescue mission with three Guardians and a hitchhiker that carries a fancy gun. Don't know about you, but I'd say this is our most promising job yet!" "Let's get rolling then," Lee grumbles as he summons his sparrow. The terminal shows one more flicker of life before shutting off. The final message needed for the Gear to truly put confidence in his new team's success: Safety Protocols: Disengaged Hammer of Dawn: Online
