They will continue to drop, but when the next DLC comes out it will pick up again. Although, I don't think it will pick back up as much as some might think. Reason being, gamers know what D1 was like, the incentive it had etc. D2 doesn't have that going for it and updates that are just putting out small petty things that have no interest will not keep many gamers interest in wanting to play. Look what Bungie offered with the first expansion. Does anyone really expect that much more knowing this is not a loot base system anymore? It has no progression system No gear or weapons to look forward to knowing perks are set. You don't have a chance to find better gear or weapons like D1 when getting duplicates. In D1 even if you got the same gear piece over and over unlike D2. There was different stats that can increase your armor, health, intellect, discipline that would improve your characters abilities that gamers looked forward to. I'm sorry, but the Chuck-E-Cheese tokens are not working for this game. Gamers want to see the engrams drop and have a chance to get a new reward, not spend time leveling up rep for a chance to get their 1000th duplicate that should have an automatic dismantle system at this point. The game is lacking way too much to keep a lot of the player base interest, and the 6+ million that drooped this game like a bad habit and plummeting is proof of that. Hell, D1 around this time had 3+ million. That alone says enough.

  • My feelings exactly. Sad it’s come to this all the same. I used to play all the time. Religiously every Tuesday and Friday and whatever else I could fit in, now I couldn’t be bothered, I was about to start last night and thought to myself why the fook are you putting this on? There’s nothing to do no incentive to play every reward is the same. And none of my clan friends play anymore. There was absolutely no point playing. It’s dead.

  • That, every reward is the same ruined the game. It's like saying, why did they even bother creating a PvE aspect of this game if this is all about PvP?

  • The first dlc got 0 bump. Same for dlc 2.

  • I agree about it picking up but not as much and then dying even more. Kinda like a bear stock market drop, like some days they're up but looking at the big picture it's just going down 📉

  • Bungie don't get it though, or they just don't care. This isn't D1 that kept a lot of gamers interest in wanting to play the game. D2 doesn't have that incentive and that alone will kill this game.

  • Agreed, only time we'll see sizable growth is a good TTK or RoI type dlc. Not to say this couldn't begin a reverse in the population decline, it just won't have a massive increase in growth.

  • It's time for Bungie to start listening to their player base and making a game for them too. I'm not talking about PvP gamers either. I'm talking about gamers that want to see this game become something other then a get me by because of Bungie's deliberate poor actions.

  • Considering a bulk majority of the problematic individuals aren't working on the D2 team (sadly they're on D3's team and not fired) there's a bigger chance that they can turn this game around. People want to love this game and this franchise, but there's no reason to play it.

But how many are going to wait for 3 years for something they should have had in D2? D2 put a huge dent in player base and now the live team is stuck with this mess. I don't even think they can come close to what they did with ROI because how bad D2 actually is.

  • I think you may be exaggerating a tad bit, it's not going to take 3 years. Hell at least the new D2 team is going to fix Luke Smiths mess and hasn't just abandoned the game like some of the Dev's in the Warhammer series. I agree, this should have been in game on day one, but it wasn't and there's nothing that can be done about that now. No matter how much people say "should've been in day 1" even though it should have isn't going to make it magically appear in game. I'm not defending Bungie's actions, but it makes no sense to go after the Live Team.

  • It took 3 years just to get to ROI with all them changes in between. D1 had a foundation to work with, D2 doesn't. They are stuck with the system that they have right now and no one wants it. Bungie would have to do a complete overhaul just to get that incentive D1 had and we all know that is not going to happen. Especially when it comes to the PvE aspect of this game knowing it's just a tiny team working on this game now. Then there is Bungie's broken 1900's engine that takes 8 hours to put out content before they can edit it. How well do you think that is going to work with 2 different games going on? So, IMO it will take that long knowing that, plus not having the manpower working on D2.

It's not going to take 3 years, they know what works and what doesn't, they are already debating between 2 systems to replace the current bland one in game. It was not the Live Teams choice to use a broken engine, we get it, the engine sucks ass, nothing they can do about that, moving on. Warframe has a team slightly larger than the Live Team and they produce gigantic amounts of content. Sure a smaller dev team may make it take longer but that doesn't mean they can't produce needed content for the game. The reworks on Vendors and loot are already going to be starting on Tuesday and will continue through the Fall. I understand your point of view, and you do have valid points I am not arguing against that and I completely agree on many of them, but you are going after the wrong people. You are criticizing the people who are working towards getting you a finished product so that your purchase wasn't a complete waste of money, rather than the actual creators of D2 failed to provide a finished and enjoyable product and currently are making another Train Wreck to try and sell.

  • I'll agree to disagree. No sense dragging this out when it's clear we both have different views on what is actually going on.

  • Not to mention perks mattered. If you really wanted that T12 VOG set it has to have void armor, ashes to asset and invigoration to be a god roll. Gave you a reason to play the raids every week.

  • The weapon system and static rolls is the one thing that I really think Bungie knows they screwed the pooch on, but will never admit. In D1, you had weapons that could come in multiple variety’s from perks to scopes. It is far easier to design one gun with multiple variables and let the masses chase the rolls they like, than design multiple guns with static rolls that never change and then get beat up on the reskin topic. Armor was in the same boat. I’d rank a chest piece all the way up and if the stats on a fresh drop were better, the old item was deleted. I was happy to be advancing in the game even if it was the fifth or sixth time I saw the drop, it was still better and my Guardian became stronger in my eyes. D2 is a once and done for all items other than light level progression.

  • I still play D1, never finished collecting the raid gear but been having fun. I agree, It is nice knowing having that option to switch out gear especially running raids. It's part of the incentive D1 had and some don't really look at the benefit that that actually was versus D2 running events.

  • I won't be surprised if they pull what they did with both D1 vanilla and now D2 vanilla with D3. Bungie is a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off and I'm not going to buy anything form them until they get their act together. Why waste my money buying now when I can wait until 2021 and get the rest of the game for $30 or less. I know I wont be missing out on much with all the nerfning and gimmicks they will try to use to keep gamers around.

  • I don't know if the next DLC is going to boost the population that much. It basically sounds similar to COO, which wasn't received well. Out of my 100 person clan I would estimate about 70-80% bought the season pass, yet only about 6 of them showed up for the new DLC, and they only lasted about a week tops.

Out of the 450 on my friends list maybe 20 of them bought D2 and like only 3 player maybe once a week if that. D2 has a hell of a lot of work that is needed to get it rolling like D1, but knowing Bungie is working on D3 and they dumped this on the live team. It's going to take a very long time before this game sees any significant improvements.
