It depends. I feel like if they're purely cosmetic (Destiny 2 Overwatch etc) there's no harm in allowing you spend more to get more. However in the case of game we're you can buy sizable advantages (CoD pre-fix Battlefront 2) then they shouldn't even be included as it makes a very unbalanced game.

Destiny's different though. Those microtransactions negatively impact the game because, a. the entire game is base around loot, and b. Eververse (really Bungie) actively dictates when and where the player can progress. Keep in mind, Eververse's replaced the end-game. It incentivises the developers to compartmentalise content, preventing players from accessing it—after charging multiple premium fees for the base game and DLC of course. A game with paid DLC doesn't need microtransactions to begin with (especially one which's flipped assets from the previous game), but asking users to essentially purchase the same content three seperate times is totally unacceptable.

  • I see your point however I feel like the fact the content isn't necessary for the game (other then looking sick) and the fact you earn the engrams pretty often makes the current system tolerable. For now at least.

  • That would certainly be fine if that was the case, and I'd likely agree with you. But the fact of the matter is, even with largely cosmetic based MTX, the game has suffered. In addition to Bungie throttling XP gains, the game's been relegated to this meaningless loop with no real goal other than to get another chance at playing the slot machine. Eververse has impacted the game in more ways than one, which culminated at the end of last year. The devs have suddenly begun to run it back, but I'm anticipating the cycle to repeat itself in May.

  • The thing with Overwatch is that the new stuff they add stays in the game, with the exception of the holiday events. Destiny 2's events are supposedly funned by EV and the events are one and done. Also, when the event comes around again, you can't earn the rewards from last time because they have only new stuff. People also don't like EV because sparrows, shaders and ghost shells were able to be gotten for free without the option to pay real money and it wasn't ing based for the ghost shells at least. Ships could also be earned from doing PvP matches or strikes, now it's only EV. Bungie also gets to advertise EV every single time you level up. Overwatch also is much better, because you actually will get everything eventually and it will actually get quicker and quicker because of all the duplicates you would be getting. The things you can buy with coins also aren't on a weekly ing rotation, like EV is on.
