I'm fine with games costing $60, having DLC or whatever, and also having MT's in them. As long as I'm not required to spend that extra money to play the game I don't mind. Games like Assassin's Creed: Origins do a good job with them and you can buy gear if you want, but it's not needed to play through the game. I really didn't even mind how Shadow of War did MT's honestly. You earned money in game to buy certain types of boxes and if you wanted top of the line orc's or gear without having to play you could spend real money. The reality is that lootboxes and MT's are here to stay whether it's with F2P games or paid games. When you look at the revenue paid games generate with MT's a company would be stupid to not include them in the game. If a publisher steps over the line, the gaming community corrects them like they did with Battlefront 2.

  • Buying gear in singleplayer games seems innocent enough until you realise that they can also exploit that. There is no way to be certain that they don't gimp gameplay or availability of those items to "motivate" players to take the payment option. AFAIK AC has not done this but in SoW I am not so sure, the lategame was pretty grindy. It can be explioted, so at some point some publisher wilk exploit it, just a matter of time.

  • I absolutely hated Shadow of War's MTs. It was sold there to milk every penny out of you. I'm also not ok with MTs and DLC in $60 games. Remember when cool random skins were unlocks and not $5 to buy?

  • Eh, you could earn in game credit for buying boxes and there was even a route to earn the real money currency in game. I don't think MTs are the best thing for gamers or gaming, but when you look at how much companies make by including them in games I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to just ignore that money to come across as a good publisher. At this point I think the best we can do is push for MTs to be done in a way that they don't affect the game play itself.

  • Single player games should never be MTs.
