No limitations, full power. Huge explosions. Awesome perks.
But all off this is a big no no because of PvPs existence...
The point is, I understand that PvP itself is limitless entertainment. But it's to an expense of the PvEs limitless power. You want to feel powerful, too bad. As long as PvP exists, there's no way that's going to happen.
PvP isn't necessary to an online RPG First-person shooter.
PvP isn't necessary to increase the longevity of a game. Longevity could be increased through new/extra PvE activities. It might be harder, but it'll be worth it.
PvP is fun, I'll give you that, but it has hindered the games potential completely.

Ther e is absolutely zero reason they can't split the two. World of Warcraft did this flawlessly. You're worthless raiding in PvP gear, and you're worthless doing PvP in PvE gear. No reason the crucible and other PvP events can't have specific armor with specific PvP perks and vice versa. I don't understand why they don't do this. It fixes almost everything because it frees them up to focus on both sides and not balance one to break another.

It isn't a mmorpg, it isn't a RPG, it isn't a looter shooter, it isn't a MOBA and it isn't a 3rd person shooter. Sure it HAS these in the game but the game is sold and marketed as a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. The reason PVP exists is because that is the foundation of a first person shooter. The reason Bungie is never going to get rid of it because that is the type of game they want to make. It wouldn't surprise me if Destiny 3 has less RPG mechanics than this game.

Killing AI enemies 24/7 isn’t exactly entertaining
-
PvE would be exactly the same.
-
What makes you so sure they wouldn't have released D2 as is sans Crucible? As in you would get this PvE without any changes?
-
Not really. Bungie wouldn't want people trivializing Raids or Nightfalls. Game isn't a sandbox.
-
Can you imagine how few copies it would have sold if it didn't have PvP? Bungie is historically a PvP company. Destiny 1 offered some of the best gunplay in a PvP game since Halo 3, in spite of limited options and no custom games for most of the games existence. While I enjoyed the PvE aspect of Destiny 1 I never would have spent any time on it if not for the PvP. As my preference is purely subjective, so is yours. I could suggest that the Destiny franchise should eliminate PvE from their games, but I won't because it is a self indulgent unreasonable notion...as is your post. For whatever reasons Bungie created this steaming pile of shit called Destiny 2, the truth is, that the PvP took the biggest hit and was neglected the most. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. THere are less game options than vanilla Destiny and the gameplay is dry and 1 dimensional. All of the PvE whiners concoct some of the most redundant and ridiculous conspiracies about why this game sucks while in reality, It sucks because Bungie made it suck. They hired and listened to the wrong people and sold their soul to Activision. They cut cost and didn't do enough play testing. They made the game for the investors, not for the gamers. SO just stop already with your PvP tears. WHy in the world would anyone want to waste their hours shooting at AI anyway?

Borderlands 2. There is your perfect example.
